I Love Thor Donating Member | He's still MARKING-even after getting neutered! So here's my dilemma...Thor is still marking even though he just got nuetered! Gosh I'm feeling really down right now because I thought that the neuter would help with this. It's been two days since he got neutered. We were in Petsmart today and I was talking to this lady with this tiny little cute female yorkie, and the second I took my eyes off of him he peed on the shelf!! I'm so dissapointed! Any words of wisdom from the wise? Thanks, Hannah |

| The only advise I can give you is to get a belly band. Mine hasnt did that since he was neutered. Maybe he will still stop but the belly band may help.

| Hannah, I am so sorry. I hate that for you. Is he marking at home? How old is Thor? I know Patton lifts his leg when he pees, but he goes to the piddle station, and outside as well when we're in the yard. But thankfully I haven't seen him do that around the house.

| If I remember right, I saw here on YT that it can take up to a few weeks after neutering for them to quit marking. Maybe someone else remember that post.

I Love Thor Donating Member | Thanks guys. He is just 6 months (born March 13), and he hasn't marked in the house...yet. He did mark at Petsmart. I knew that would be a test for us, and unfortunately he failed! Chachi, I guess I am going to have to consider a belly band, thank you for the suggestion, but one question, should I get it now and make him wear it when we got out, or should I give it a few more weeks as Bentley&BitsysMom sugested that it may take a few weeks for them to stop. That would be fabulous, but it seems that most people have had instant results. Do you guys think I waited too long to get him neutered? Hannah |

| If hes not doing it in your house I would give it a few weeks and see if he stops. Mine did and I am pretty sure I read a thread that said it can take a couple of weeks also.

| Try a Belly Band for now. With my male Woody, I have used a Belly Band and also I try to be one step a head of him. In other words, I take him out every 2 hours to relieve himself. Once you use a band, they don't like relieving themselves on their bellies. |

| Give him a few weeks. I think my vet told me it takes about 4 weeks for the hormones to completely leave their systems. My vet also said that males should not lift their legs to pee and wouldn't have the urge to hump things (like toys)-but that was not the case for my Amos. I had him neutered as early as I possibly could and he still lifts his leg to pee and has a stuffed animal that he gets rather friendly with. He doesn't mark in the house, but he will stop about 10 times and pee if we go on a walk. Just be patient, he'll come around. |

| It's still early yet , give him some time . I didn't have my Scooter neutered till he was 6 years old . He never marked in the house till my daughter brought over a male boxer she was dog sitting . Then the little bugger started it .After I had him neutered he stopped . I did keep him leashed to me for a while afterward so he couldn't sneak off and do it when I wasn't watching . Hang in there it should get better soon . Bren~N~Cami |

| Unfortuately neutering them does not always stop the marking. My standard poodle still marls as does Buddha and both were neutered fairly young but Hefner deosn't even lift his leg and he was neutered as a very young puppy by the breeder. The good news is that I have heard that it takes a while for all the testosterone to leave their systems after they are neuetered so he may still get better. Belly bands are a great invention!! |

| My Codie was neutered around 6 or 7 months (I forgot the exact month) and he has NEVER marked in the house. However, when I'm walking him, he stops at every single tree and fire hydrant and does a little tinkle.
