| Sound Like a Scam? My mom got this e-mail about a free Yorkie that a couple is giving away for free. I am thinking it's a scam, but I wanted to see what you all think. What's odd is that my mom has no pets and no interest in getting a pet. She's not on any mailing lists so how this person found her is beyond me. What do you think? Here's the e-mail... From: Cabana Tammy <cabanatammy0001@mail.com>

| That's what I figured, but what are they after? Maybe after you respond they ask for a credit card number... I don't get it!

| SCAM!! Most of these people are operating out of Africa and will ask you here and there to wire money for "last minute expenses", etc. If you go on google "nigerian puppy scams" or puppy scams, lots of it pops up. Be VERY careful!! I read about one lady who was out a few thousand dollars and never got a puppy.. |

| DEFINATELY A SCAM!!!!!!!! Same thing happend to me before I found Mandie. The woman and husband wanted the money up front before they would ship from Africa. They even sent pictures, but when I looked at other images of dogs on the internet, they were the same ones that had been emailed to me by these people....DONT DO IT!!!!!!!

| Scam-a-lama-ding-dong. The first tip-off is that the person doesn't seem to speak proper English. Not that that would necessarily mean anything but it makes me believe it is a scammer just trying to get email addresses or money somehow. I had something similar. I found an ad in the paper for a Yorkie. I emailed and she said she no longer lived her (WI) and was now in CA but would ship the dog to me. That just seemed really weird. If she's in CA, why not advertise there??? She had really broken English in her email too.

| Absolutely a scam. Yorkies and bulldogs are the two favorite breeds of these scammers. "Free" Yorkies come with requests for Western Union money transfers for shipping and other expenses. Of course, you never get the dog. Nigerian "free puppy" scam revealed on the internet - Wikinews, the free news source |
