| I have a problem, looking for suggestions. Ok, Lacijo is now 7 -7 1/2 inches off the floor to her topline, weighs 3.5# When we bought her the breeder had cut her hair twice. She was 5 1/2 months old. We hadn't had her very long before we noticed how cute she was when she peed. She squated so close to the paper. Now I wonder if there wasn't a reason for the hair cuts. All my dogs are paper trained and don't go outside much and never alone, we have some large birds in our area. Her hair doesn't scrape the floor when she walks but in another 3 or 4 months it very well might. I wanted to grow her hair out, get a professional picture and then get her hair trimmed to a more managable length, since I have 5 Yorkies now and plan on getting 3 possibly 4 more. She has been getting VERY nasty the last month. I should wash her back end at least every 3 days but I don't want to strip out the body oils and ruin her hair. So I let her go for as long as I can. I don't know how she does it but the urine gets almost all the way up on her back. It doesn't quite reach her topline. The situation has changed lately. She has decided she likes me. She was just a daddy's dog, and for some reason the smell didn't bother him. My dogs, most of them sleep on the bed with us. She has taken to sleeping really close to my face. Yuck! When I sit on the couch she gets on the back and tries to sit behind my head. Yuck and yuck again. I thought about tying her hair up on her legs but first of all she'd chew them right out and secondly she is so close to the floor when she pees that it would get into it anyway. Like I said, I want to grow her coat out but I can't take this stinky little girl, any suggestions? Sylvia |

| Sounds like quite a pickle...sorry no advice...but my brain is trying to figur eout a solution...what about the pad system that pull the pee away in the pad so as soon as she pees it is being sucked in and it can't get on her coat???..I think it is pricy though...hmmmm!!!!

| I've seen scented/deoderant wipes for dogs, like baby wipes...maybe they would help in between baths? |

| I don't know, they'd have to be awfully wet or I'd have to wait for her to dry and then do it. I might try it tho, thanks, Sylvia |

| Oh, I had another thought. Do they still make the dry shampoo for dogs or maybe the foam shampoo? That also might help between baths. |

upside down every evening and run some tempid water on her pee pee so she is cleaned up down there and has time to dry before bed time. I know what you mean about the odor, one day over 7 and it's bad. There is a product I like and you don't even have to send for it. It's called between bath by Natural Touch. They have one with a baby powder scent that I just love with no dyes and no alcohol. I'll give you the phone # if you can't find it. 1-800-443-4321 It also detangles and conditions so I don't think it would harm her coat in any way. I have used it a long time and see no harm.

| I noticed Sydney is like that. When she pees on the deck and the pee has no where to go she seems to be almost dragging herself through it. I like it when she goes in the lawn and the lawn absorbs it. I use piddlepads in the house and they seem to absorb it before she has a chance to get it all over her. I don't know what kind of pee-pads you use maybe a more absorbant one would work better. Just a thought.. |

| Thanks everybody, I don't see any way but to get absorbant pads. Joan, do they carry the Natural Touch at Petsmart? Sydney, sorry don't know your name, that might be worth a try. Rinsing her off every night shouldn't strip the oils any worse than the pee does. Sylvia |

| Sylvia, I was reading your signature as a plea to Sylvan to answer your question. My eyes are not good and I'm afraid this computer is really making things worse. I am in Ohio and believe it or not I get it at Drug Mart. I spend a fortune on her Shampoo and Conditioner but this is not expensive and it's a spray. I cut her belly hair back in the summer but I like her to stay warm in the winter so I will let it start growing again soon and then it is more of a job. The phone # I gave you is one I never called but it's on the bottle and I'm sure they can tell you where you can buy it in Missouri. It doesn't hurt there coat and smells so good. There are quite a few threads on pee pee pads. Shield Healthcare has some good ones at a good price and I think there ; it was better to get the larger one and cut them in two. Also e-bay has them at a great price but not always available. I go to the Depends dept in Walgreens and get 40 for 6.99. Rub her urine on them the first few times she uses them and until she gets the hang of it. I remember I took mine outside and when she went pee; I just rubbed a little on at that time and then came in and put it a spot you decide on , in the house. Also the other day someone started a thread saying she could get 200 for 16.99 and I wanted to make a note of it but didn't it was made between 9-6 to 9-9. Wow that is great !! If I find it I will let you know.
