| first haircut my baby is now 5 months old,but hasn't gotten his rabies shot. because he didn't get his rabies shot he cant go to the groomers. So i have two questions, How old should my puppy be to get his rabies shot, (Louis is 5 lbs). and second, Louis fur was very frizzy and dried out, because i used baby shampoo and i guess that dried it out., i use an organic oatmeal shampoo and it seems to be working but its still not as shiny as i would like it to be, i was wondering if i could cut off all his hair on his body then let it grow back, would it grow back shiny and healthy? also, his head is silver but the rest of his body is black, if i do cut all his fur off, will the color change to golden or silver? |

| If his new haircolor is growing in at the roots, and you shave him, then he'll look like a whole new dog afterwards. Some people here have gotten their pups shaved and they are black in the before pics, and silvery in the after pics. Sorry if I explained that weirdly.. it's like if a brunette dyes her hair blonde, lets it grow out a few inches, and then chops most of her hair off. She'll be a brunette again. Do you use conditioner on his hair? Roxie's hair felt a little dry and dull, so I use conditioner now and the difference is amazing. Not sure about the rabies shot~ The texture of a puppy's hair can change as it matures, so it might grow in shinier/healthier/thicker, etc Last edited by MeggieNRoxie; 04-11-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

| The rabies vac law for NY is below: When should my pet receive its first rabies vaccination? The law requires that your pet's first rabies vaccination be given no later than four months (three months in New York City) after its date of birth. Many rabies vaccines are licensed for use at three months, although some may be given at younger ages.
