| Gucci Ate ANOTHER HAIR TIE! Bigger this time, Should I give peroxide or leave it?? He ate a larger hair tie AGAIN!! This guy kills me!! I put one in his hair after his bath and went over to the computer to put the camera away.. I hear him chewing something and looked over and he had rubbed it out and had it in his mouth!! I went to get it and he swallowed it before I got to him This time it was a larger thin Hair Tie. \ Like the size of a small rubberband maybe quarter size in diameter and thin not thick.. Should I try and see if he passes it or induce vomiting while it is still sitting in his stomach?? I am only worried because of the size of it... .. This guy never ever lets me rest , he scares me so stinkin much it's unbearable at times. |

| It is an elastic , fabric covered not the latex type. He has swallowed a Mini one before and had no problem passing it, but this was a larger one.. there is no plastic or metal though. |

| Ohhhh Gucci. Geez, he really likes those elastics hey? Missy gobbled one up before too, but it was just one of the teeny ones. I hate when they do that...just as you're reaching to take something away from them, they swallow it! I personally wouldn't induce vomiting unless it causes him some issues. It will likely pass tomorrow. Gucci, give your poor Mommy a break. Quit eating the elastics

I jotted down the time it happened and was going to wait and see if he takes his morning and afternoon poo fine, if he does he should be good and they will be inspected EWWWWWWW... Please do continue to tell the boy to GIVE ME A BREAK!!! lol.. He needs to hear it from more people other than me Quote:

| well he woke up abt 15 minutes ago hacking like something might be in his throat, he does it periodically and is worrying me. He seems fine but every few minutes he begins hacking.. could he have tried to vomit it up and got it stuck?? |

| Momo does the hacking after he eats something he shouldn't have...like if his throat got irritated. Sometimes, his hair will be in his mouth & I have to pull it out, or he'll hack & snort & make all these weird sounds. It's also like reverse sneezing, kinda like he's trying to breathe, so I plug up his nose then he stops.

| Hmm... so do you think its the kennel cough or the hairband causing him problems? Just keep a close eye on him. (((gucci)))

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | A rule of thumb is to only induce vomiting, if the item is poison, and even then you should check with a vet because some things, like gasoline, burn the tubes going down, so if you induce vomiting, you also burn the tubes coming up. On solid items, you don't want to induce vomiting because he could very easily choke on the item when it comes up. I would always call my vet for his advice, it great to have a phone relationship with your vet and his staff. You should be aware of symptoms to watch for, such as loss of appetite, vomiting, and no pooping, as this could indicate an obstruction. The vet may recommend a food to help pass the band, others have recommended pumpkin for this, but I have no personal knowledge if this works. Good luck, I would suggest putting all poop in a small baggie, and squishing it to find the band, you will rest easier once you found it.
