| Pros and cons of puppy cut I'm thinking about getting Mini a puppy cut because she is so active and her hair is messed up - always. I know winter is coming soon, but it's not real cold in Arkansas plus she rarely goes outside. She has four sweaters for when she will need to go outside. I love putting bows in her hair so I thought a puppy cut with a topknot. Do any of you have pictures I can see of the various cuts. I would certainly appreciate it. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I do - I had Chanel in a puppy cut once ...and left her hair long on her head - This was taken a long time ago but I loved how her face looked - This was my favorite short cut for her |

| I keep Kelsey short..like a puppy cut. The groomer just trims her skirt, face, paws, rear area....and she looks clean and the hair is out of her face...and very easy to maintain. I think she looks cute with some hair...

| Im gonna give ya some pros....They are cooler, easier to brush, easier to rinse when bathing, CUTE, fingers dont get caught when petting (LOL), Dont get stuff in their fur.... Bailey had his final puppycut before winter,,, He had 2 puppycuts this summer,, he would get so hot, just going out,, he'd start panting then just flop down in the grass, and that was it for the walk. I would keep the puppycut year round, but he does get cold in the winter, he would be shivering too much.

| I prefer to see a Yorkie with a shorter coat and well groomed than one with long matted coat . |

| I usually let Rika's hair grow until I just get sick of her looking so shaggy, then I have a groomer shave her down to an inch or less of fur. She looks goofy for a while, but it's less work for me and I think she likes it short. She's always so happy and full of life after being groomed. lol

| I'm really considering the puppy cut too! With three always playing and getting their hair all tangled it seems like even though I brush them everyday, there are still matts that need to be combed out. Long hair is beautiful, especially when it's groomed correctly. And I agree with Oliver, at this point mine are not looking as nice as they should. So maybe the clippers will be coming out ...

| Mine goes to the groomer tomorrow and what she talked me into trying last time is it as far as I'm concerned....Romeo is semi-long. She shaved his underside which you can't tell til he flops over and thinned the backside of his legs....it is sooo easy to lightly brush every other day and he hasn't had a knot in a month! Denero will be going to for the first time...just for a bath, a little trim around the eyes and to get those cat like claws trimmed! Romeo's worst problem now is the top of his head! He plays so hard and roles around rubbing his head on Denero, he gets his topknot tangled!!!

| Gidget is usually in a puppy cut....I was going to let her grow out for the winter some but then she had got a bad case of fleas so I buzzed her down again....she seem not to care either way and I actually like her on the shorter side (about a inch or so of hair) but i am trying to keep her hair on her head growing out (I really want to do the top noth thing...last time she actually went to the groomer they buthered her face hair ) I know last winter it was COLD (well for So Cal) and Gidget was good with a tank top under a sweater (she likes to layer :P) I like the shot hair better then the long hair....just works better for us and our lifestyle........we go on lots of walks and Gidget is pretty "rough and tumble" so I couldnt even imagine her in long hair. |

| I keep my boys in puppy cuts all year around. It's usually sweltering here in Texas and they look and act really "spunky" with their hair cuts. No one ever believes me when I tell them that Tyson is 14.5!

| I keep mine short. It keeps the hair out of their eyes and I like the cut.

| I keep Turbo and Little Bear in puppycuts all year. I really prefer the look of a real yorkie coat but Turbo just sits and pants if his hair is too long and Little Bear (female) has never learned that you can actually go around bushes. She's one of those "direct route" gals. We nicknamed her "She who walks with sticks in butt". I've just recently done topknots on both of them and they do look so darned cute. I think I will keep our new gal Nugget long as she is so small I'm sure she will easily feel the cold and damp come winter. |
