| First heat for my Lexi - need advice! Hi, we have two Yorkies, a boy by the name of Hemi who is about five months old and Lexi the little girl who is eight months. Lexi is experiencing her first heat and I have no idea what I should and shouldn't do. I went to the store to get doggie "diapers" and couldn't find any so I bought preemie pampers. She won't leave them on and my husband is having a fit because he doesn't want her leaving messes behind. I need help! Any suggestions? |

| Hopefully you are keeping her separated from Hemi! She is much too young to breed! You might try crate/x-penning her in a tiled area like the kitchen, utility room or un-used bathroom for the next 4 weeks.

| Hi! My advice would be, keep her in an x-pen. Those diapers are a joke in my opinion. My male took them off the female. So he has spent alot of time in his taxi for the past few days. We take them out separately. About the mess, my female does a good job of cleaning herself. We have found a few spots of blood here and there, but resolve does a great job of removing it. Be patient, it takes time to get through this, definitely keep them separated, both are too young to be parentsGood luck to you and your hubby. |

| First heat for my Lexi - need advice! What, exactly, is an "x-pen"? I can't lock her away from the family for four weeks, she would cry (and so would I!). I don't think Hemi knows what to do, to be honest, he has sniffed her a couple times, but for the most part stays away from her. She is very onery! |
