♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | should I feel guilty? As some of you know Tia my 9mth yorkie baby has recently lost her big sister jessie (border collie) and Im beggining to feel guilty that her friend is not here anymore. Since Jessies passing which was 4 days ago Ive been offered a puppy poodle and yes another yorkie baby but Im not interested. Can Tia be happy being an only baby? She gets mega attention it goes something like this:every morning before work I play ball with her.I come home for lunch we play.At 3 when I finish work we go to the local field for about 45 min.Wed eve we go puppy classes.Sat afternoon she plays with my sisters 3 dogs in the field.Sundays she goes walkies with me and hubby. I know how wonderful it can be for them to have a playmate but would I be a poor replacement? Is there anyone also with an only furbaby and content?

| I am so very sorry for your loss. I don't know that I can be of much help. My Abby is an only "child" at 7 months old, and seems to be content though I have never had more than 1 dog at a time. When I got her she was 3 months old and I often wonder if she misses playing with her sister. I have thought about getting another so she would have a playmate but not sure as I have never had 2 at a time. Maybe in time you may be interested ( or maybe not) in getting another one. You sound like a great mommy and I think she is a very lucky little girl!! |

| Molly is an only child (apart from my old cat who doesnt want anything to do with molly). She is very happy and contented. She does run around with some other dogs while we are out walking, but not all of them. I adopted Molly when she was 2 and she had always lived with another dog before that. I believe she is quite happy to have all the attention now. I work 21 hours a week, during which time she sleeps mostly, and like you, we have a good walk and playtime when i get home. I think you should try for a while and see how things go. Im sure Tia will adjust and be perfectly happy on her own. |

| I wouldn't worry too much about her being an "only dog" in the house. If your not home alot then I would maybe consider getting another dog WHEN your ready but if your home often and even have other dogs you can bring her around to play, don't beat yourself up. |

YT 1000 Club Member | It sounds like she gets alot of attention. Your not leaving her there alone for real long long periods of time. She's getting alot of interaction and your making sure she has playdates. If "your" not ready for another puppy I wouldn't do it for your dog. It might stress you out and then she'll feel that and might end up resenting the new dog. I'd give it some time. Sounds like she's having a pretty full content life at the moment and is probably getting used to it like it is. I think they adjust faster then we do. But if you want another one and are ready then all will probably be just fine. Whatever you decide good luck and I'm so sorry for your loss. |
