| I haven't had any problems with Greenies. I never give Emmy a whole one, I cut them into small pieces. They have helped with her teeth. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | On another thread, someone from the Greenie company posted information about how the "new" greenies had been reformulated. I asked if they were now 100% digestible, and she never answered. Some of the packs say 99% digestible, and a piece the size of grain of rice may not be digestible. The problem I have with this is that small pieces can cause a blockage in the intestines. This would be less likely to occur with a larger breed dog, because they have larger diameter intestines, however with a small breed, I wouldn't take the chance with anything that wasn't 100% digestible.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Actually, this can cause a choking hazzard when you cut them into small pieces, and the company advises you to throw them out if they've chewed them down to a small piece.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Greenies Are they soft enough to cut with a knife ? Thank you for your comments...I think I will pass on giving them to my Yorkies....I do not like the sound of this and I am very nervous about it. YarnLady...how big is your Emmy ? My Yorkies range from 2 to 10 pounds !

| Someone gave Pasquale some Greenies (the small ones) for Xmas. I read the package and it says it shouldnt be given to dogs under 5 pds. Pasquale is just a little past 5 pds...so i threw them in the trash.

| When Tatum was younger, she was SO addicted to Greenies. She knew that it was her after-bath treat. Then all the info started coming out about how bad they were so I stopped giving them to her. She would actually sit under that drawer in the kitchen and cry. It was hard going cold turkey! I haven't even tried the new formula. Don't want to take the chance. And since we've found bully sticks (her replacement after-bath treat), she doesn't mind anymore. I just don't trust the "new formula" any more than the original.

Have you tried Merrick's Bully sticks, the 6 in size is great for most Yorkies, your little one might like the flosses, they are smaller twisted sticks. Bully Sticks are 100% digestible, and that means that they can't cause intestinal obstruction, there is still a possibility of choking, so all chew sticks should be monitored until you know your dogs chew habits. Those dogs that tend to gulp foods whole should not be given chewing sticks. I really like the quality of Merricks, they are specially dried and don't need preservatives. They are harder than most sticks, and I think the chewing action help scrape off tartar, and keeps gums healthy. Here's Merrick's site, but you can find them cheaper at other places, eBay and Amazon carry them. Merrick Pet Foods - Dog Treats Tendons
