| Maybe Stupid ? But Would Like to Know I love looking at the pictures on YT and I have read LOTS but I have noticed that some of the furbabies have long hair everywhere including on the ears and others have it everywhere but the ears. What is the so called standard? I guess I mean if you were going to show your baby would the ear hair be left to grow or shaven? Also Laddy's ears only came up a little over a month ago so if I let the hair grow on them now will it make them go back down or is it safe to do so now? Thanks. Proud Mama to Sir Laddimier (Laddy) |

| I thought the hair trimmed off the ears was to help them not turn into droopers. Last edited by MaxwellHouse; 03-26-2009 at 12:55 PM. Reason: take out quote |

| Shaving the ears is standard. And it does help them to stand up. |

| the top 1/3 of the ear should be shaved with the bottom part left to grow long. Some people don't shave the tips though. I personally prefer the tips shaved like they're supposed to be

| I have never shaved Prince's ears. We like the natural look.

| When I see the word "shave" I think of shaving with a razor. I don't think a razor is used to "shave" the ears. A trimmer is used. Correct?

| I use clippers are you can get mustach edgers and shave the top third / the front and back part of the top 1/3 of the ear. Then I use scissors to trim around the edge of the shaved part to make sure it's neat. The bottom 2/3 just grows

YT 1000 Club Member | I got Roxie at 9 or 10 weeks and her little ears were straight up. I hear some people say you have to have them pinned and some say they just come up and some say they stay floppy. I'm really confused about this. Roxie is my first Yorkie so untill reading about ears here I never thought much of it. What are all the differences in different terms I've read about the ears? Did the breeder already have them pinned before I got her or was she born like that? |
