Love Mommies of more than 1 PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

Well I picked up #2 today from a woman that was moving to California from NJ & drove an Escalade SUV & had a blackberry. So you would think she had $$$ to groom her dog, right?! Well if you could see what my newest little Princess looked like when I picked her up in a parking lot! OMG she is a hot mess....long hair matted beyond belief & too boot my groomer cannot get me in until a week from today!
So I bring her home & #1 furbaby Precious is not exactly thrilled....well I hope they get use to each other & become playmates
And I was told she is totally pee pad trained but the new dog has peed on the carpet at least 4 times since we got home this afternoon, she did poo on the peepad & we "had a party" so she would know what a good girl she was! LOL But she is still going pee on the carpet??????!!!!!
Also she doesn't know 1 stinking command! How do you teach an old dog new tricks so to speak she's only 2 but she doesn't even know how to sit for pete sakes!
Please help send any & all advice I'm feeling overwhelmed I know its only the 1st day but I guess I was just shocked at the state of the dog & everything.

Give it time, I'm sure she is overwhelmed with the newness of it all too.

Make sure you do not give the new dog too much of your time for while. keep you routine with your first dog as normal and as much on schedule as possible, so she does not get jealous. let them take thier time to get to know each other.

If you have established yourself as the pack leader, it should all fall into place and they will be enjoying each other before you know it.

Take a deep breath...

Your new baby is getting used to a new place, new family, new everything. Treat training like you would with a puppy (for now). It's hard to tell if she's peeing on the carpet because she's in a new environment or because she's not trained...

As far as your two becoming best of friends, give that some time too.

Everything can seem overwhelming the first few days...it may take some time for everyone to adjust.

If it helps, as much as I love my Bernie (when he joined us he became furbaby #4) the first days were a mixture of sheer joy and moments of panic (oh no! what have I done!?!?)..It wasn't long until I couldn't imagine our lives without him...And all those issues that seemed overwhelming in the beginning are hard to recall.

We just brought home a new one today too. He has certainly made himself at home peeing and pooing on my carpet, but then again, this is a new place and he doesnt know yet! (that and the derned rain, i couldnt take him out!)

Give it time! Maybe your other dog will teach the new one the ways. Thats what we are hoping here, lol! Its alot of stress on them going to a new home. Just give em a big YAY when they do it right.

We're right there with ya!

First I want to congrulate for your new baby.
Itīs her first day with you and all is new for her so it might be that she is a little bit scared.
If she is doing something right so praise her a lot. That helps better than to be angry with her. Positive is for the little doggy more impressive than negative. You will see, she will learn quickly.
And she will learn from your other yorkie. First we had one biewer and a few months ago we get a second one and the new dog has many things learned from our first dog.

(hope you understand what I mean because my english is not so good, sorry for this).

I wish you and your babys the best!

I had a 5 yr old (maltese) and brought home a 5 mos old puppy. I know you said that your new little girl is 2 yrs old. I would gate or crate train her. Not give her full run of the house. close off as many rooms as you can for now. watch her like a hawk. even if you have to leash her to you so you can get things done ( I tried that once or twice)

as for the 2 bonding, it will happen. My girls, don't play all that well, but they do go for walks next to each other, ride well in the car in their carseat together and eat and sleep next to each other well.

Give it time you are all in transition.

Patience, time, consistency & plenty of love. I believe consistency is one of the most important things to give a dog. She needs to know what to expect. Right now controlling her freedom in your house may be important for you and her. And Precious. That relationship will change in the next few weeks. Precious may feel displaced - time for them is important. Also, make individual efforts with both of them - and don't push their togetherness if they are resistant. In time they will be cuddled up together.

Sorry Princess was so ungroomed - she may need tinme getting used to you brushing also.

It will get better! Just give them time to adjust and try to contain her so she doesn't get in the habit of peeing eveywhere.

Thanks girls, as we speak it's getting better...I'm in the middle of the couch & I have a sleeping baby on each side of me!!!! I haven't reprimanded Princess when she pees I just say no sternly & pick her up & bring her right to the pee pad. But did I mention before she cowers when we try to pet her or pick her up & we all know what that means. Precious is stealing the few measly toys I got for Princess though (like she needs anymore LOL) & I did get a tad loud with her......for the love of pete Precious let her have 1 stinking toy! My husband just laughs (thanks dear). I also don't think Princess was kissed alot...........but we kiss her anyway

Oh & get this everyone....I know I'm a total goofball but BOTH of my girls previous name was Muffin! Isn't that totally freaky?! Well when #2 furbaby's previous owner told me her name was Muffin I took it as a sign that I HAD TO HAVE HER come hell or high water! I guess it was a sign that she needed to be saved & come & live in out happy Yorkie house LOL

I think I have lost it..... I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the potty training, I've never had a dog that didn't at least kind of get it. This is going to take the patience of Job. I think the woman lied about the pee pad training this animal has never seen a pee pad & when we go outside she sits down & just looks at me & does nothing! I go to wash my hands or something after we come in & BAMO pee on the carpet! UGH

First off, Congrats on the new addition. And it sounds like she needed you!

I agree with some of the other posters, treat her as you would a puppy. Don't give her free rein of the whole house. Watch her like a hawk when she's with you, don't set her up to fail. Perhaps take them out, when Precious is done, come back in but don't take your eyes off Princess. Wait a minute and then take her back out by herself. It really sounds like she's had no training and very little interaction. Perhaps she's shy about going potty with Precious around, or you watching. Boo hates it when I'm watching. He gives me such a look with his eyes, "Momma! Don't look at me!"

Yogi is so happy to see us when we come home that he's not at all interested in going out and pottying with the other 2. However, as soon as they come back in and the door is shut he's tinkling. So for now, we are going out into the back yard with them and stand there until he potties. He's just happy to see us and it just takes a few more minutes for him to settle down and do his business.

Get some Natures Miracle to clean the spots with so that the odor doesn't attract her back. And have a treat with you when you go out so that you can reward her immediately. If you wait until you come back in to reward then she may think the reward is for coming in, and not for pottying.
