| If your dog is barking! Ok, its finally nice out here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Its great to sit out and enjoy the day. Except if the neighbors dog is tied or kenneled and barks for hours! We've got one out front, a larger dog, and one out back, a little mop dog (sorry if anyone is offended but It has made me go crazy). The owners are home, inside, Napping or what??? Come on the dogs have got to be needing water by now! Seriously, do any of you let your dogs bark and bark and bark? Rant over. |

| I have an apartment complex right across the street where there are dogs, and then kitty corner there are homes where people own dogs. It is spring time, and in Cali the weather is nice. my windows are open all the time night included. Seems like all the neighborhood dogs love to bark , especially during the night. Even my precious little Suzi has barked more often at every single little noise. Her bark is not as obnoxious thoiugh and she quits ver soon after she starts. I tune all the barks out. I guess it comes with dog ownership. There is not much you can do to "make" a dog stop barking. Other then make certain there basic needs are met, and they are happy, and comfortable. I am not keen on leaving dogs outside all the time. However, some people do that. I just think it has to do with the weather, and dogs will be dogs .

| My dads dog is a terrible barker. She's a jack russel/shihtzu mix and when she barks, my dad and his girlfriend just stick her outside so THEY don't have to hear the noise but I'm sure the neighbors don't appreciate it. Eh, she was just never properly trained. Jackson will bark but I've got semi-control over it at this point. He's getting a lot better. And dogs will be dogs. I don't want him to stop completely.

| I am sorry I must disagree. You can train a dog not to bark. First of all little dogs do not want to be tied outside all by themselves. They are scared and it is their only means of protection. The owners need to be trained. Many larger dogs live outside in kennels, yes even in Minnesota. But you cannot expect them to go 24/ 7 without attention. I have had several dogs over the years. There is a time to bark and a time to be quiet. No one should have to get used to another persons dog barking all day! |

And what you said is exactly what our neighbors do. They get sick of the dog so they put it outside. Right outside the window. I do not blame the dogs, it is natural for them to bark when they are scared or not attended to. | |

| Pennies/coins in a can has been working for us. Just shake it every time they bark and say "Quiet!" Soon you will not need the can and you can just say "quiet!"

| We used to have a nervous poodle. She would bark at the any small noise. We would just reassure her calmly. It got to where she would just do one little bark. We would just say good girl its ok. When she was tied out if someone came by she would bark until we went out to check and say thank you its ok. She just needed to know we were taking care of things. We were the "pack" leader and if we said it was ok, she trusted it was. |

| We crate trained Lexi, she is now 6 mos. It took a little time and patience, but now this is her "safe place" when we are not home and at night. |
