| womrs my yorkie nala and my friends yorkie that we got from the same breeder have had nothing but problems with worms since we got them. a week after i had nala she had tapeworms from the fleas that were on her when i got her.( i never met the breeder, she was a xmas present from my bf) and now she is having problems with roundworms. after her first shots through my vet i started her on heartworms pills the day after i gave it to her she got rid of a roundworm, but just one. i called the vet and they told me it was probably the heartworm pill that got rid of it and just watch her and if i saw anymore to contact them and they would give her something. well i never saw it again until a few days ago. i gave her 2nd heartworm pill to her last friday and monday low and behold there's another roundworm so the vet said bring her in next friday and they will give her a 1 dose liquid wormer and that should kill the lifecycle but if not they will get her something stronger. my friend didn't have any problems at first then about 3 weeks ago when her dog would poop there would be blood in it after she took him to the vet they discovered he had roundworms and hookworms really bad. my friend called the breeder and asked her how many times the puppies were wormed and she said 2 but on the piece of paper (nothing more than a printout from her computer, tells u something right there) it says that they were wormed 4 times prior to us getting them, needless to say she didn't have an explaination. i guess my question is, are our dogs going to have any problems in the future since they've had so many problems with worms? nala and louie both act like normal healthy puppies but just when we think their ok it seems like we find another worm i think these people we in it for the $$ rather than doing it b/c they love the breed. |

| worms I would drop off a stool sample every month until the stool is clear for 3 months. Then do a 6 month check, then yearly. Hookworms can contaminate your yard, so pick up the droppings right away. Roundworms are fairly easy to rid..tapes come from swallowing a flea..so keep flea under control. Wash bedding..for now I would use old towels until they are worm free..vacuum the carpets and all should be fine soon...worms cause no long lasting effects I know about unless it is hooks and not treated. It is important for a breeder to treat their dogs regular, along with the area and prevent fleas...keeping them on heartworm prevention will keep most worms under control except tapes. Wash the kids hands..some dog parasites canbe transferred to humans. |
