| I'm sooo SCARED! Hi everyone, I'm having some personal issues because next month from the 7-12 I'm going to Vegas (I should really be happy) and I have to board my babies for the first time and I am so nervous about. If anyone can tell me exactly what happens when their boarded, I mean do they stay caged all day or what. Thanks to everyone!

| I've never done it so I can't answer but I might suggest to do it for a day a couple of times before they have to stay for a long time just to get them used to it--and you too. best wishes. I can see how it would be nerve wracking.

| I dont know a thing about boarding. I am willing to provide free board to your furbaby, if you were in Miami... that would have made it easy |

| I have no advice as I've, thankfully, never had to board. But if you have several places available to you, I would suggest you visit them and see what they offer. Even take one of your babies with you to visit and watch how they react. I'm sure different places offer different aminities. Also do a search on the internet for the places and see if you can find any write ups from previous clients.

| I've never had to board but I know the place near my house is VERY high-end boarding. Dogwood Acres in Maryland (I know you're not in MD but depending on how close you are, you might want to consider) but they have a spa, acupuncture and everything. Here's the schedule of what they do: Dog and Cat Boarding Davidsonville Maryland: Dogwood Acres Boarding Resort It gives you the schedule. So try to look around and find the best one in your area and call and ask what they do! I've heard nothing but good things about it. And actually, I have an interview for a job there so I would be there most likely! lol. But where in VA are you? Dogwood acres has even been featured on Animal Planet and you can see all their pics, prices and services on the site.

| I have boarded my boys several times over the years. Absolutely visit where you are considering. Ask questions and if they will not let you in any part of the facility - run fast! If you look at the AKC website, they have a section on boarding facilities by state that are AKC approved. I also agree with other posters, do at least one trial run for a night or two. Hope this helps!

| Hello....we take trips all the time, so finding a good boarder is crutial so you can use them time and time again and feel peace of mind. I was ABOUT to leave my Snick at Petsmart Petshotel after getting to know the staff through his puppy classes, but then something in me told me to look elsewhere so Snick did not have to be caged/crated for much or even part of the day. Thats when I randonly searched craigslist and I found the SWEETEST lady who LOVES dogs and has 2 (a HUGE newfie, and a beagle) and is SUPER reasonable. She treats Snickers like family and Snick LOVES going there. He is never in his crate and sleeps with her dogs. Not only does she board dogs but she's a trainer too. I'm in MI or else I would give you her info!! Def look into some other outlets....I never feel Snick is getting boarded, I just think he is going to see his doggie pals. Take a peek at craigslist, there are so many animal lovers needing to make extra money in this economy...could be worth it!!
