| Using Belly Band instead of Going Out! Help! has anyone had this problem. Pete is 4 and has been wearing a belly band for about a year due to marking in the house. He has never had an accident and always has cried at the door to go out. Now he just goes in his belly band! He totally soaks the belly band. It's not a health issue because he has no problem and does not wear belly bands away from home--even for long trips etc. |

| Yes, Pete has been neutered for over 3 years and is taken out every couple of hours. He easily goes overnight without the belly band on for 10 or 11 hours and has no accidents so I think he is being lazy but am not sure why he would start this behavior all of a sudden. He has no problems when not at home. |

| Since he's not peeing when not wearing the belly band, and peeing when he does, it sounds like he thinks the band is to pee in. He needs to stop wearing that thing and get re-trained with his potty habits inside.

| When he isn't wearing the band at home, he marks territory. That's why we put the belly band on him. The vet said he is jealous of his brother who is one year younger. They are both very competitve with each other and get along great. But the vet recommended taking them both to a dog psychiatrist for therepy at $50/hr each--no can do--to stop the marking problem! So he has to wear the belly band. |
