| Im pulling my hair out crying :(((( Why is it that whenever I close prince off in the kitchen at night he goes to the restroom in the middle of the night no matter how many time I take him out before it's time for bed? I was sick of him soiling my kitchen tile so I put him in a crate after I had taken him outside and he used the bathroom in about 2 hours. He has always done this since he was was a little puppy and he is 8 months old now. When he is out in the living room or in my sight he doesnt do it.. you'de think he was fully house trained! I cant sleep with him cuz he sleeps too wild and if I let him be free in my room or the living room he will get into EVERYTHING!!... I don't know what to do but cry... |

| A couple questions: How big is the crate? Is he fixed? Have you used potty pads?

| I don't have the answers for you, but I just wanted to say don't cry. Hopefully it will get better soon.

| Everyone goes thru this with Yorkies...They are hard to potty train...some more then others...someone said pee pads...try them ... I use them with mine...They go at night and are good til morning..Maybe there is a reason he can't hold it...maybe he is marking....I am sure someone on here can help....Mine are both girls.....

| Try a diaper for the night. Yorkies are very difficult to housebreak! My boys are 3 years old and still pee in the house sometimes. We'll have really good periods of time and then really bad periods. Its the nature of the beast so to speak. I know how frustrating it is.

| I was going through the same thing with night time accidents. I was ready to pull my hair out too. Chloe came with her own crate from the breeder. Well I read somewhere that if they are having accidents in their crate, that they have too much room and you need to downsize it, they won't soil where they have to sleep. So, I put an old throw pillow in her crate. She has enough room to lay down and that's it. Since I did this we have not had any accidents. I have her crate next to my bed. She whines when she needs to go out. It helped us so much!!!

| Well ... If he doesn't go when you crate him for the night I don't see any harm in having him crated at least for now every night

Donating YT 500 Club Member | well 8 months is still pretty young, i would just continue to potty train her.-- Yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to potty train, and my bella didnt get it down till about 9 months. I would just wait and be patient

I just wanna thank you all for being so helpful! I love Prince to death and its frustrating when I dont know what to do to make us both happy. He hates being away from me or my boyfriend. I think some of it may be separation anxiety. I will take all the advise in consideration. I know there has gotta be a solution for Prince. It seems like when he is out of the crate or not separated from us he is happy and is house trained, but when he is separated from us he is not happy has accidents. | |

| Sorry the way i wrote it was confusing. He does use the restroom in the crate after I have had him in the crate for about 2 hours sometimes within the first hour. Not to mention he barks all night. |

| As far as the barking, do you cover the crate with a blanket making it darker? We do that with of our dogs overnight. Then they know it is just bedtime and not that we are leaving them for awile. I wonder if that would help him know that he will have to try harder to hold it til morning. When we first brought our YorkiePoo home he was a little under 5 months old. He held it all night but would dribble all the way downstairs to go out and potty. The only bad part of that was I carry him down so that he does not stop and squat inside! I went thru lots of jamas but now he can make it all the way outside without peeing on me. Good luck and have patience. His time will come too. |

| I think you've gotten a lot of good advise from the other posters. I use to have a similar problems with Meka. To the point we had to crate train her at night, because she just kept using the bathroom in the middle of the night in random places. We didnt start crate training her until she was 8 or 9 mo's. There were a few times that she soiled her crate and I found that it was mainly 1.) because I threw off her feeding by feeding her later than normal 2.) Feeding her too much. Eventually, we were told to feed her once a day (by our vet). Which helped and also I began to put her crate near our bedroom. That way she felt close to us. I also, began to associate the word "night night" with going in the crate at night. So that she knew it was bedtime and when she went in, we gave her a treat... which helped her know it was a good thing. Just remember, be consistant..and if there's any whining or barking, its okay to tell him "no". I think he'll get it eventually. Though I know its hard at first... good luck

| I totally with the cue words like "night night" and a little treat. I will have to try the treat thing myself tonight. |
