| Need support in shutting down a possible puppy mill Im not sure where to post this topic but needed to share. If someone can please tell me where I can post my story without violating any rules that would be great because I'm trying to find support in shutting this puppy mill down. I've already submitting my info to HSUS. |

| Lexy's Story Hello! My name is Lexy and I belong to my mommy Teresa. We have created this page together to support all animal lovers out there because I have a genetic disorder that I was born with, it's called Collapsed Trachea (CT). I have a wonderful family who loves me dearly and spoils me like us Yorkie's love to be spoiled! Some people think because I am so small that I am a tea cup, I laugh because there is no such this as a tea cup yorkie...teacups are cups you drink tea out of! hehe The lady whom my mommy adopted me from her name is Connie Fahey from Clyde, Kansas and her website is Connies Puppieās she has over 8 breeds and is also inbreeding many of us puppies and not really caring for us before we are sent home. On the day I arrived by plane in Texas I was sooo happy to finally have a new home with a pretty pink bed, lots of toys and a colorful sweater to keep me warm when I went outside but I had a bad cough. Mommy took me to the Vet the next day for a check up and to see if I had a cold. The vet put me on antibiotics because my cough was raspy and after a few days of not helping much my mommy took me back to the Vet and she did x-rays and that's when she found out I had CT. She contacted my breeder and she seemed to not care much and not believe my mommy or the Vet that I was really sick with this hereditary disorder. I have already developed fluid in my lungs twice which is something I can easily get because of this and now I have to be on a special medication for the rest of my life to ease my coughing noise that I make everyday. The problem with that is I am only 2 lbs and they don't make this medicine for my size, so it is having to be specially made just for my pretty self, I was told I would be 5-6 lbs but that wasn't true and because of my disorder I can't have any type of surgery...putting a breathing tube down my throat while on anesthesia will kill me. So hopefully I will be ok the rest of my life and not ever need surgery. When mommy told the breeder all of this she didn't believe her and says this is why she doesn't have a Vet, how someone can breed so many dogs and not have a Vet is beyond me! Mommy has made lots of Yorkie owner friends on internet groups from all over the US and learned a lot of information on my breed and the red flags when it comes to finding a special dog like me from a breeder, a lot of people out there just use us to make money. When mommy asked for pictures of my parents she never received them and that is a big sign that she may have a puppy mill of some sort. So mommy is determined to find out all of this for sure and has shown several people in these groups all of the emails to and from the breeder. We are doing research to see what we can do about this to have her investigated. Mommy found me on puppyfind.com and discovered that all the breeds she has posted are all posed in the same doggy bed in all the pictures which tells mommy that my brothers and sisters, my parents and the other animals there along with myself my have lived or are living in cages all day long. The breeder told mommy 3 Yorkies have died in the last 5 years after they went to their forever homes, so she replaced them, who's to say how many new owners never told her their pup died. That is not a good thing at all to hear which means obviously something is wrong with this lady...we need to put a stop to her. She thinks mommy is crazy and doesn't know what she is talking about. Mommy left a review on the site she found her on stating all the problems I have been having and the breeder reported it as lies so the site would remove it, so mommy is getting all supporting documentation to keep the review posted for the site. This is a war mommy is going to fight to the end! Update: She has just been reported to Humane Society of the United States and have several other agencies I still need to report her to. Please find me on myspace to show your support and send a friend request. www.myspace.com/lovelexy2009 |

| Well I'm in Texas and the so called breeders in Kansas...that's my problem, I'm reporting her to the sites I can find through HSUS but I'm not sure where else? I have all emails etc so I created the myspace page as added proof of the support in shutting this place down of hers. So if anyone on here has a myspace please add yourself and I would also like pictures of your baby(s) emailed to me to post in an album called Lexys friends all over the US to help Lexy through this with your permission. I'd like your baby's name and the state and/or city you live in if your willing? Send pics and info to lovelexy2009@gmail.com Also, I'm in the process of creating a Facebook page as well per request. I will keep you all updated. Thanks!!! Last edited by sweetest1307; 03-08-2009 at 09:52 AM. |

| I'm so sorry to hear Lexy is going through this but I'm sure you love her just the same. I wish Clyde was closer to me so I could go take a look at this ladies place. Are there any members here that are close to her? I hope your able to get her shut down.

| I looked through an ariel view map and got as close as possible doesn't seem like she has many neighbors as it looks like farm land. But there is a large building on the property, so yes it would be nice if someone lived near. |

| She is listed as a USDA commercial breeder. You could complain to them and, if the dog is AKC, you could complain there too. Many of the alternate registries have a complaint process, too. You could also contact the local Humane Society in her area. I'm not sure the police would get involved but it's worth a shot. Here's the link to the USDA breeder list that was posted here on YorkieTalk http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...eder-list.html Best of luck. It may be that all you can do is complain but it may have an effect. You may also try one last time to contact the breeder before complaining and give her one last chance to make things right, as best as is possible. You could still complain after this anyway. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I wouldn't use the USDA bc they take years to shut anything down. If the state's "anti-cruelty laws" are as effective as some purport they are, then you should be able to just call the police or sheriff. You could also call the Humane Ass'n - but honestly I'd also call law enforcement.

| Update as of 3/17 Lexy is doing great, she now weighs 2 lbs 15 oz...yeah she's almost at 3 lbs. hehe Dr. G also did another xray since she's grown to see what her CT (Collapsed Trachea) looked like now that it's under control and to double check her right shoulder because we had noticed a spot on her first xrays. Today's xrays showed up perfect, her shoulder is fine and her CT seems to be open more with the medication she's been on for about a week, it's working just like it should! Lexy dosage is supposed to be given twice a day but I have cut it down to once a day and it is still working just as good. The Dr said that if I felt comfortable I can try cutting it down to once every other day to see if it is still working as well and if I notice more coughing then go back up to once a day again. She said her coat and skin look great, her scars are healing fine, her weight is going like expected and couldn't be better she looks great! Yay!! She got her last round of shots today, she also received her rabies shot today as well forgot to mention she started her Heartguard the other day as well. Oh, they also did blood work and her blood sugar levels are normal now. Woot! lol I am so happy she is doing so great! Oh and last but definitely not least...I got copies of Lexy's medical records and a copy of the letter from the Vet...that breeder is going down! lol I haven't heard back from the HSUS yet but look forward to it because I am ready! ;-D I also sent all documentation to Puppyfind.com so they can keep the review I left posted and possibly remove her from the site. And justice for all!!! ~*Teresa*~ Proud Mommy to Lexy DOB (11/3/08) Help support the fight against Puppy Mills MySpace.com - Lexy - 32 - Female - Texas - www.myspace.com/lovelexy2009 Owner of Yorkies In Texas Group YorkiesInTexas : Yorkies In Texas |
