| Teddi has the runs....looking for answers So Teddi has the runs since last night. She also has them 2 weeks ago. Last weekend we went to the vet and he took a sample and sent it to the lab. I got the results on Monday that she has nothing wrong. She has never had this before and the only change in her routine in the last month has been that I have been taking her to a lady's house for doggie daycare. I am wondering if for dogs it's like for kids....how kids who start daycare get sick until they build up their immunity. Is this the same for dog? Could she be getting sick from doggie daycare and needs to build up an immunity? I know when I picked her up on Friday she said that 2 of the dogs had the runs. I don't know if I should stop taking her (but she really really loves going) or not? I would appreciate any feedback from you guys. Thanks!!

| It could be stress too. Slippery elm bark powder works very well for upset tummies, digestive tracts and runny poop. I use it often with my girls. I got mine on e-bay but you can it at food co-ops and some health food stores, too. |

| Thank you so much...I've never heard of that. I will look for it. Do you just put a little in their food?

| Many on here give theirs a teaspoon of pumpkin, but I have never used it, but you can do a search on here about it. also has he been eating any thing different that could of caused it. maybe the daycare is giving him treats or some thing different thats causing it , or it could be stress. | you can also try feeding her boiled white meat chicken mixed with white rice, no seasoning. this will give the tummy a chance to heal and calm down. she / he can eat this anytime they have this problem. you can also give Kopectate, like what we use for diarrhea. only give a small amt, maybe 1/2 tsp. not knowing the size of your baby would depend on the amt. you would give. I think she should stay at home until this has cleared, if when she is better and returns to daycare and it starts again, you will have your answer. It would have to be something at the daycare. Does anyone give her food that you do not provide?? if so that could be the problem even if it's just a treat.. tiny tummys in our babies.... I have had Yorkies as pets for 32 yrs and now have 2 puppies so I have probably, been there done that with all of our kids..... Good Luck... besure she drinks to keep from getting dehydrated from the diarrhea.. Sharon |
