| What does your fur baby do while your cooking? What does your fur baby do while your cooking? The reason I ask is because the other night while I was cooking Bailey was under my feet. I was chopping up onions and some fell to the floor. He was under me so quick that he got 1 or 2 and ate them. I was HORRIFIED!!! So what do you do (if anything) to help prevent your babies from getting sick off food that might fall to the floor. Bailey is just fine. Thank god my mom has the kind of job that she was able to stay home and watch him for a few days. I dropped him off at her place in the mornings and picked him back up at night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

| Thank god your baby was fine. I rent the basement from a friend of mine, so Fiona stays in my room while I cook. I guess you just need to be extra careful when cooking foods that are harmful to your babies.

| charlie stay in his crate while i cook and while we eat. Tonight however i let him roam around with me in the kitchen. I am afraid I might drop something that is harmful to him. He loves to vaccum. |

| I think when dogs beg its the most annoying thing ever, and i hate to say it, but fiona will do that, but if i tell her to back up, she will just lay down and be good!

| yeah it was quite a scare for me but taught me a lesson. i'm thinking about making him stay in his bed while i cook because he does love to "vaccuum". it taught me a HUGE lesson. the funny part about it is that when i give him a treat, he will gingerly take it from my hand, sometimes you'd think i was poisoning him (that's how long it takes him to eat it) but let it drop on the floor and he'll race to get it...LOL! I'm just so glad he's ok and my mom was able to stay with him.

| Winston is very good about staying out of the kitchen while cooking. As a very young pup, whenever I'd open the oven I told him to "stay back"...he's a quick learner...he stays back. Also, teach your little ones to "leave it"...just in case he finds something that could do him harm. I taught this to Winston, because he always liked chasing crickets...not any more...he leaves it.

| "leave it" is fantastic!! now, my little one used to be fine when i cook... until his mother in law showed him "the light" i'm trying to stop him cuz i hate it. its funny how fast they learn, and how slow to "unlearn" but ya gotta love em either way |

| My dogs have never seemed to notice when I cook (I guess because I don't give them any table food). Teddi does like to sit under the table when we eat but that's about it. They don't seem to notice cooking at all.

| Mine will wander around me when I'm cooking. They know "leave it" and "drop it" REAL well. I too have dropped onions. The good news is that I know Maggie May doesn't like green onions, she got a little piece and spit it out!

| You're lucky... I can't seem to teach him "drop it" he just gets angry and swallows it faster. He seemed to love the onion he was chomping on it so proud while i was saying no. He had no idea it was somthing that could harm him.

| Bailey watches me in the Kitchen and I enjoy it. If something falls, I say either "leave it!" and she backs up -or- "oops" and she can have it. I make her "back up and stay" whenever the stove is open.

| I give my babies Bully sticks and fence off my room while I cook. They are just pups and I don't like them not being supervised. My other dogs know the command, "get out of the kitchen". They lay on the carpet and wait. My friends bring their dogs when they visit and they have learned that command as well.

| Ben usually just walks around and play with his toys while I am cooking or in the kitchen. If I open the stove he does get curious but I just tell him "no" or "get back" and he listens very well. I also worry about him having things that he's not supposed to, but so far everything has been fine.

| Pao just go to his bed and lounge while looking at me from far. He is never around me begging for food coz he knows I won't give him any while I am cooking or eating. He is on homecook and he is pretty cool and mellow about the food I cook for human so he is never under my feet. That is a good thing!
