| Where are your pups during the day? I tried searching for an existing thread but my search kept coming back empty. Mr Belvedere has recently 'outgrown' his old pen that he'd stay in during the day. He used to have a Pet Gear Home 'n' Go. I liked it because it was soft nylon and opened at the top. However the little bugger chewed holes into all four sides of the pen. I had it in a corner and had to block all four sides, put a crate on one side and a baby gate on the fourth side AND top b/c he's figured out how to jump out. After 5 months it's time to move on! This is the second Home 'n' Go we've gone through in 5 months. (The first one was broken by my boyfriend). Mr Belvedere has tons of toys and keeps busy, I'm convinced he just likes destroying things. Today I went to the pet store and bought him a dog crate with similar dimensions as his Home 'n' Go. I'm just curious as to what/where your babies stay during the day. Because my boyfriend and I work in retail, Mr. Belvedere is in his big crate (sized for Labs and Chow Chows) with his litter pan, toys, food and water dish for up to 10 hours on a normal day, 12-14 hours occasionally and if I can find something more comfortable I'd like to do that. I've looked into pet daycare however we work in Retail and often work until 10pm. The daycares in the area only stay open until 9 and honestly, I don't trust anyone but me to care for my pup. Thanks, Victoria and Mr Belvedere |

| Snoopy is in his 'fence'; I guess it would be an x-pen. It's heavy wire, 2x6. He has his food, a few very sturdy toys, and his food & water. He's not in there very long at a time, so no potty pads. I think you have a good set-up with the big crate.

| I use an ex-pen. Missy is never alone for long, but I don't think a crate is enough space if Mr Belvedere is in it for 12-14 hrs. At least with an expen he will have some room to move around and play.

| Jackson's never really alone for long. If I'm not here, someones usually at the house. If I'm leaving for longer periods of time, I keep him in his x-pen to keep him safe and prevent potty accidents. But if I'm only gonna be gone for 30mins-2 or 3 hours, i just lock him in my bedroom which has a baby gate on the door! He sleeps the entire time, lo

| playpen is a better solution as he would have extra room to play. Over 10 hours at a time might be a little too much for him regardless where he stays. he would be bored even with toys! is a dog walker at all possible? does he have a playmate at home? he might need some socialization during the time you are gone.

The days where he's alone for 12 hours I usually come home on my lunch break and let him run around for 1/2 hour or 45 minutes. Other than locking him up in a crate I'm at a loss on what to do. (Tomorrow will be his first day in the crate and my boyfriend will be home as well as the day after. We'll give it a test run and see how antsy he gets. There's no one in the area that I could ask to come into the apartment while we're gone to walk the dog. My BF and I work for a computer company so there's way too many things to be stolen. We've just moved to the area and do not have any neighbors we trust. (If anything, just the opposite!) I appreciate the quick replies! Thank you all for your continued help! | |

| in the kitchen Apple is in a 4' X 10' ceramic tile kitchen, while I'm at work...She has 2 puddle pads, at one end, bed at the other, w/toys in her toy box beside her bed, and food somewhere in between...I work 8 hrs. a day, so she's up for 3 hours, playing, before work, and about 4 hrs. a day, after work...On days off, the schedule is totally off (lol), 'cause she plays and naps all day long...It's easy to clean (I do it everyday!) I'm thinking about converting my smaller bedroom into "her" room, taking out the carpet and putting down tile, but I'm not really sure she would like it, since she's been in the kitchen, since she came home??? The kitchen is totally baby-proof, including the cabinets, in the event she ever learned to open them...Does anyone have any comments on the kitchen to the bedroom move??? Love, Maggie and Apple |

| Is there any way you can bring him to work with you every once in a while? I dont really leave Daisy home alone for more then an hour or two (Then I keep her in her play pen). If theres not going to be anyone at home, I bring her to work with me. It took her a while to get used to my office but she's fine now. I just bring her play pen toys a bed and food and she loves it. hope this helps a little bit. |

| Baxter is home alone for about 10 hours a day also. I know it is hard to leave him but work I must. He stays in our master bath that has plenty of room for him to roam around and play. However, I think he mostly sleeps during the day. I know some here will think it is terrible and abusive to leave a dog alone all day but Baxter is spoiled rotten when I'm home. |

♥ Mama's Boy ♥ Donating Member | Tobie goes into his crate when I am not home with the TV on he is usually only in there for about 3 to 4 hours during the day. I have came home before to find me out of the crate because I did not latch it all the way and he was waiting by the door for me along with a huge mess waiting for me to clean up! If I am going to be gone longer then that he goes in the bathroom but I put everything up so he can not get into stuff. |

| We leave our little man free to roam the house. We're out of the house for 9-10 hours. We leave him weewee pads and also leave the TV on for him. He also has toys everywhere. He makes peepee on the pads, but he sometimes does it on our table's legs. Very frustrating. We've tried containing him to our master bathroom, but he just poops and steps on it all day, pancaking it into the tiles. He did that regardless of where he was confined, so we just figured it was easier to let him roam free. House is doggie proof of course.

| They are at home during the day. Hubby and I have conflicting work schedules, so they are only there alone for 2-3 hours a day during the week. During that time, we swap up where they stay. You may find 2 in the bedroom/bathroom and one in the big crate...or 1 roaming the house and 2 in the bathroom...just depends. |

| Mine all stay gated in the kitchen & foyer. The floors are easy to clean should someone have an accident. This way they're not crated all day if I'm gone really long. They can play with each other, their toys, and their kitties. hehe Doggie daycare is GREAT, but like you said if you work later than in most cases 6pm it's not an option. I do also keep their crates in the foyer, open with beds in them, so they can use them to nap if they want to. I also use washable pee pads when I'm not home for my little guys.

| How about Craigslist?? Either check for ads on there for a dog walking service or place one and conduct interviews there yourself. Also my friend has two dogs she called her local high schools guidence office and placed an ad at the high school, times are tough right now, Im sure you can find someone to help you out at a reasonable fee.... Craigslist is GREAT Quote:
