Yorkie Yakker | Am I being Duped? My cousin brought me a yorkie which is 8 weeks old. I was upset because I know that that is too young. Well ,she is growing great. What the problem is.... well I don't think its a yorkie. I have papers and everything, but she looks like a chihuahua to me. I got the number from my cousin and called about her. She assured me that the puppy is authentic. She told me that the father had long silky type haired and the mother had a more of a smooth hair. She said that the hair will grow out . My cousin said he saw the mother and father in the home. I was wondering if this could be true. She goes to the vet tomorrow and I was gonna ask them. But I am a little embarrassed. |

| It's really hard to tell... he could be full yorkie, but usually they are fluffier than that. It's possible he could be a yorkie/chi cross. I do think he is definitely at least half yorkie. If you really, really want to know, there is a DNA test you can buy at PetCo. It's kind of expensive, but it could be worth a shot. Canine Heritage XL Breed Test Available Online at PETCO.com

| She does look to be possibly crossed with a Chi. I'm sure you'll be able to tell for sure in a few weeks. She's definitely cute though!

| I would have to agree - chi cross What a cutie though - it really doesn't matter I'm getting a Morkie in a few weeks (maltese and yorkie mix) It doesn't matter to me she's only half Yorkie - I already love her!!! Just hug your little one and love her to pieces

Yorkie Yakker | Thank you all for your response!!!! The problem is, I am becoming attached, and I do not want an unresponsible breeder out there selling babies with bogus paperwork. Are they actually AKC or mixed dogs? I don't want to give her up, but I don't want to contribute to that type of business. Thats why I am really wondering should I pursue the truth, or just love the product. She is cute, and so, so loveable!!! |

| she is so totally cute, but i agree she looks crossed with a chi. that is not akc. i would love her and get the breeder in trouble. i would do the dna test and find out for sure and if it comes back she is mixed i would trun her into the akc. i will attach a picture of my five week old puppys and you can definatley see a difference.

| It is really hard to tell. She may be purebred. here is a picture of one that I had and for sure was 100% purebred. at seven months old he finally grew into his ears and his coat started coming in nice and silky. Before that time he had really coarse hair. I have also heard stories that the DNA test that you can order from petco and other pet stores, often comes back with false information. My niece worked at a store and said that they had so many complaints. Some of the pups were purebred, and came back with breed results that were completely impossible. |
