| Would anyone buy a yorkie online and have it shipped to them? This just seems so crazy to me. Would you do it? Have you done it? Why or why not? Have a good day

| do you mean without actually meeting the dog first? I bought Layla without meeting her or the breeder- it was just too far away. Through pictures I picked which one I wanted out of a litter of 3 females and picked her up when she was 12 weeks. I would never personally have my pup shipped- Layla was SO tiny when i picked her up- i can't imagine putting that small of an animal in cargo and not having them come out traumatized- i find it hard to beleive the dog you put in the plane is the same dog that comes out (emotionally) |

| sure!!! i was a bit skeptical myself when getting my yorkie but i live in nyc and all i could find were puppies that came from puppy mills unfortunately .....then i got in contact with a very reputable breeder that was in Missouri and Donnie came home in about 3 weeks!!!! he is super healthy and very lovable! he came with the AKC registrations and everthing....also neutered which was, in my point of view, very responsible of the breeder. I wish i could post some pics of Donnie on this site but i can't seem to find how to do it!!!! it frustrates me! but yes....crazy but possible!!!! |

| I would only do it if I really knew the breeder. It is best to see the environment the pup is coming from. When you buy online you could unknowingly be supporting a byb or a puppymill. Alot of times when people have problems on here with a breeder its because they have bought it online

| Just got our puppy last weekend from Missouri. I breeder here on YT,( with references here on YT as well) had pups available. We flew out and picked him up and flew him back with us in the cabin on Air Tran. He was worth the flight because we knew he was coming from a qualified caring breeder. Having a healthy baby is worth everything. |

| I found Peanut online and it was the best thing I ever did. I picked him out of a picture of him and his three brothers at about six weeks old. I did check out the breeders references and we keep in touch via email until he flew out of Arkansas at 13 weeks. She called me to let me know he was on the plane and I tracked the flight and picked him up at the airport. He was even eating on the drive home and has been a blessing since. I still keep in touch with his breeder, if I would ever get another yorkie she would be the first I would call. |

| Yes i have with very good results I have bought 5 yorkies at different times from a very reputable breeder in OK but i did not know that the first time buying they were flew in with no problems and were so happy and playful by the time we got home from the airport they seem to have always been with me. I had 2 Biewers yorkies flew in from Germany in Jan 09 and they were absolutley perfect Micah was 1 of them. but there are a lot that has not been so lucky. I was well aquainted with the breeder in Germany before buying. Betty & Micah my love |

| I have bought and shipped w/no problems. You build a realtionship over the course of wating for your puppy to be ready or even bred. I have dropped off for a friend a couple of times at my Airport ( it was biger ) and she made sure everything was PERFECT and I had to freeze the water so the puppy could lick it while in flight so it would not spill out. She would call to make sure I had froze it...lol So, a good breeder makes all the difference. Airlines makes me nervouse if I have family or pets on them. | i have bought andd sold both over the internet and shipped. never a problem. the key is getting to know your seller or buyer. there are other ways besides cargo to ship a pup. I sometimes usse an airline flight attendant to hand carry my pupss in cabin. Last edited by Sugar's Mom; 03-01-2009 at 03:07 PM. |

| I got trixie on line. She was picked by the breether, and delivered to me by the breether herself. She is a very healthy 3 pound yorkie now. No health problems. In my opinion, everytime you buy a pet, being on line or in person, you are taking some kind of risk.

| I got Dolly w/o meeting her breeder or parents. but her breeder is a well-known show breeder that many people on here have had positive experiences with. I would suggest that you do some research on the breeder you are considering, asking for references etc. before purchasing one.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm so glad so many of you are recommending seeing the breeder in person. That's the only way you can be sure of kennel conditions. I do want to caution that many people on YT have recommended a breeder even though they never met the breeder themselves, and have only have had their puppy a few months. I'm not sure what they are recommending since they can't even be sure they got a healthy puppy. So be careful with those recommendations. I would probably be inclined to fly there and have the puppy fly back with me, but I wouldn't just "ship" the puppy, it seems crazy to me too.

| My personal preference is to visit the breeder in person and see the puppy and it's parents. I would never have a puppy shipped. I like to see for myself the conditions where the puppy is being raised, and also meeting the breeder in person. The YTCA recommends so many breeders in so many states, that it's hard to believe a buyer couldn't find a reputable breeder within driving distance.

| Call me crazy. I've bought both of my Yorkie's online and had them shipped to me. My first Yorkie has also flown overseas and back when we had moved out of the country. |
