| female dog behaves like A..... My Suzi is 11 months old , and has some male behaviors? Such as squating and the lifts a leg to pee? Seriously she does! When I take her outside fpr a walk she does the same thing, and has to piddle all the time , lifts her leg up too? My brother did not believe me, and sure enough i showed him, she peed on her pad the same way! He was like wtf? She sometimes is also an obsessive humper, grabbing on to an arm with both hers, and is so strong you have to pry her off! If i did not know better, I'd think she were Butch, LOL. She is one tough little cookie... But why the make characteristics?

| Humping is pretty common among female dogs-- it is a way of asserting dominance. You may just have an alpha female on your hands. Don't let her hump you, or you're sending the message that she is the top dog! As for the multiple piddles, that isn't unusual either. Just like in male dogs, it is a way for a dog to leave a message for other dogs that might come around. The leg lifting, well, my Penny sometimes does that too-- she squats and does a funny little three legged balancing act while urinating. I think she just prefers that posture for some reason.

| ok, i knew the humping is common in both sexes , but the leg lifting really though me off! alpha female is what she is called? what other things should i expect her to do? Suzi is my first dog ever, and she has not been around male dogs. EXPECT, she was the only female pup in her litter. I don't know how young a male leg lifts though/ Suzi was 9 weeks when I brought her home. That is quite possible where she picked up on all these male behaviors! I think it is entertaining to say the least. NO , i do not allow her to hump on people.... Unfortunatley i am the victim of such behavior. she's trying to be boss of me, little stinker!

| Hmm... thats interesting. Though I've read other stories of female's that do the leg lift thing to. Maybe its just herl. But, definately discourage the humping. That's not something you want to promote, with yourself or anyone else

| I've noticed my baby boy lifts his leg when he doesn't want to stand on a pee spot on his wee pad. Maybe she's lifting a leg because of not wanting to stand on a certain spot? |
