| Grooming What do you tell your groomer when you take your baby in? And if you do the grooming, what specific things do you do each time? Penny is 19 months and no stranger to the groomer, but I usually forget something when I give instructions. And I wonder sometimes if I give the best instructions, anyway. She always comes out looking cute, but I want to make sure I'm taking care of the important areas. |

| A lot! Ruby gets bathe every week. I start by fully grooming her before bathing her. I spray her with 1 part conditioner to 3 parts water before every coat brushing. Then every morning a clean her eye bugs. After before bathing her I shave one third of her ears for the look. Then I clean her ear canal with rubbing alcohol. After she is bathe I dry her a bit with towels witout rubbing her coat. Then dry with blow dryer. Then I apply coat texturizer. I really brush her underarms as this is were she matts the most. I like I said the rest of the week she gets groomed every day. Also before bathing every week I shave the area directly around her anus all the way down to her vulva as if the hair is left long you get end up with a mess. Hope this helps. |

| Thanks for all the good info! I bathe Penny every week, and I brush her once or twice a week. I'd like to get in the habit of brushing her every day. What kind of conditioner do you use (in your mix) and what kind of brush? I use mostly a comb to work out the knots, and she ends up sooo soft... but I just wonder if there is better. Is it common to shave the private areas? Penny seems to do ok as long as she visits the groomer every couple of months. But, it's gotten a little long this time, and I think her fur is catching pee! Her hair gets so long around her back legs, and this is where her matting is (in addition to her under arms). So I wasn't sure if I need to tell the groomer something more specific. |

| I use day to day conditioner by Chrie Christensen and a ball bristle brush. I think it is common for them to shave the private area. I usually ask for a yorkie cut and they cut it the way I want.
