I need to vent !!!! I just got home from my mother-in-laws, who is now 72 yrs old. My stupid sister-in-law has a mini chihuahua, I can't spell it tonight. Now he's not spayed, she uses him as a breeder dog. I have no problem with that but, she went to Pennsylvania to breed him with a female and instead of money payment she get's pick of the litter. Now before she comes home she buy's 3, not 1,2 but 3 more of these. They are 7 weeks old and she gave my mother-in-law a male one. It's ok, the people live on a farm. She's going on about how wonderful they are and their dogs are wonderful, all 15 of them. I simply asked if it was a puppy mill. She got all sorts of angry, how dare I even ask that. Well they live in the barn in crates, what would you think.......duhhh....My mother-in-law is on oxygen all the time and not in great health and she brings her home this sweet lil white thing, and he is cute, telling me he's a mini teacup and on and on. I had Roxy with me as usual and I didn't know they were there nor that there was a new puppy, so after going in she tells me he is going for his shots tomorrow. I had a s**t fit!!!!! I didn't even let anyone hold her and I didn't stay. I mean Roxy is all shotted but still how stupid! I didn't even let her down. I don't have a problem with the breed of dog, I have a problem knowing where he came from to the tune of 350.00. I feel better now......and I wrong for being angry? On top of it all, this lil one will never see the out of doors!!! Last edited by kelly jo; 02-16-2009 at 05:18 PM. Reason: addition

There is alot of things wrong with that situation. It's best if you keep you and your yorkie away from that negative energy.

I'm a little confused are you mad because she paid $350 for them? Has it came down to yorkies meaning more because of what you pay for them then other animals? That because you paid $350 for a pet that means it most likely will have a disease? I don't get why you had to vent or get mad? Was it because she is a breeder or going to be a breeder? Also if your animal is protected with all of her shots I don't see why the sudden turn of events? Since money is tight for everyone (Mostly) I can assure you that most puppies including yorkies will not be sold for high dollar, a lot of people (breeders) are dropping prices this does include show breeders some are not even breeding anytime in the future and if so they will keep what they breed so they can show or breed, some are so well planned its almost impossible to climb on the list, heck some very nice males get placed into good homes at a cheap price, this does not mean they are not great in health, it means times are hard for a lot of people. Why want the little guy get to see the outside? Does this mean he also will live his life in a crate. Okay what I am getting at here is, who, what, and why? You sister is a full breeder right? She does not allow her dogs outside the kennels? The one she gave to your mother also will not be able to see outside either? Yeah I can tell you are mad, lol....... but its okay .

no your absolutly right.....my sister-in-law is a contributing factor to these puppy mills.....and my husband and I are the only one's that go and see or visit her atleast 3 times a week or drive her to the dr. groceries, etc. and now there is a new puppy! my mother-in-law dosn't leave the apartment. she very seldom goes out except when we make her and i just think that even people that have apartments still walk their pets outside daily and this poor lil one isn't going to have that unless i do it. she can barely take care of herself let alone a new pup and yes he will be in the crate alot as she just can't physically take care of them. i just felt that my sister-in-law was wrong to do this without atleast asking or telling us about it. she only comes out to see her every few months if that. we are the one's that take care of her. i was just venting anyway, i think all pets should atleast get outside and run around. and no she isn't a full breeder. she is using her's for pick of the litter. they have no registration or anything they are just small.

Oh Okay I got you now............maybe you need to discuss these issues with the sister in law. Let her know you can not take care of a puppy also when you are trying your best to do what is right by your mother-in-law. People need to realize just because you got a bargain not everyone they come into contact with needs one also. Maybe you should also talk to your mother-in-law and work the issue of finding the puppy a new home since you feel him living inside of a cage all day is not healthy for him. If she doesn't want to do this then try your best to do right by him while you are there. I do believe talking to your sister in law might work, maybe she can help out with the cost of this puppy.

But my in law is a cat hoarder, I don't even know how many she has the last I knew she had 8 and she lives in an apartment she too gave her mother not 1 but 2 cats and after she died my poor other sister in law had to take them both in. And she thinks she is a great cat lover Can't pick your family.
