| Did your breeder say why you have to wait 3 months. That's a long time for a puppy not to get it's first shots. Is the brother that much bigger?

| I don't quite understand. I brought Chloe home at 7 wks. and 1 lb 1 oz, took her to the Vet the next day and her breeder had already given her the first shot. My Vet, very reputable, never said a word about her having been too small for her first shot. I understand you are attached but it sounds like this breeder is reluctant to let this puppy go. Maybe its just me, but I hear alarm bells going off. Could you talk to the Vet yourself? Maybe this pup has other issues or maybe she just doesn't want to sell. I dunno but if it were me, I would take a step back even tho its hard when your heart is envolved. In the end, you are the only one who can decide. My heart is with you, good luck with your decision. |

| Is the breeder close to you? When's the last time you saw Armani & his brother?

| It might be a good idea for you to talk to the vet he's been seeing. I'm sure the vet can answer any questions and concerns you have, and explain in more detail why it's best to wait longer. Many breeders like to keep the puppies until they are at least 2lbs. I KNOW it's so hard to wait, but if it's truly what is best for the puppy you may need to wait a little longer. It could be possible that it won't be an entire 3 months. As attached to him as you are now, you will become much more attached when you actually get him home...and just think how devestated you would be if he became very sick once you got him home. Many breeders will keep puppies longer if they are very tiny or if they feel they wouldn't do well leaving so early. 12 weeks is really the minimum that a puppy should go to its new home. You've probably found a very responsible breeder who truly cares about her puppies. So many would just push them out the door at 8 weeks regardless of size or how they were doing. Why exactly does your breeder think it will be another 3 months?

| update i just called my breeder for more info and she told me that the vet had told her that it would be best for the puppy to wait until he is six months because he isnt regulating properly because of his small size and he hasnt been eatting as much the only way he will eat is if u put the food in ur hand she said she has had many test done and he passes them all with flying color the only problem is that at the vet he weighs 1 pd 3 oz and on her sacale he only weighs 1 pd 5 oz so basically he really hasnt gain much weight at all like his brother are and she isnt sure if its just because hes gonna be so small or if there is something wrong with him so right now shes gonna wait and see what happens and if again in 3 more months he hasnt gain much weight she will have the test done again his mother is gonna be around 4-5 pds i have until 2morrow 2 decided if i want his brother because 2 people want him but i have first pick and also i can wait 3 more months see how hes doing and at the same time another litter will be born and i can decide between him and the new littter of puppies that will be due to leave in june what to do what to do i cant stop feeling so sad |

The YTCA says that Yorkie puppies should stay with their moms until they are at least 12 weeks old. Responsible breeders keep tiny ones longer as MyFairLacy said. Maybe your breeder has some concerns about the future health of this puppy and wants to watch him for a little longer. He's too young for a bile acids test and maybe she wants to have that done before she sells him. If you have a good relationship with your breeder, I think you should discuss this with her so you understand her decision to keep him longer.

| Gosh, I feel bad for you. What a disappointment! If you are near that breeder and could go see the puppies, I think you should do that. Maybe once you see the brother, you would fall in love? The larger one may be more spunky and all. I guess if it were me, I'd not want to wait another 3 long months! So sorry for your sadness. I hope it works out!

| Hmmm....I think that if I were you, I'd seriously be considering getting a different puppy. There has to be a reason that this one isn't thriving. Maybe you should just go and see the puppies, if you fall for the brother you can take that one. Otherwise, why not wait for the next litter and take a look at them too. If none of them seem like "the one" then you can wait it out to see how this tiny one does. Good luck with whatever you decide. This has to be hard on you. I know the waiting would be driving me nuts!

| I'm not the only one on here that has got their puppy at 6 weeks and had their shots. My vet said it was ok. I talk to the breeder about the puppy and she said he was ready. Alex is doing great, playing, eating, and growing. I think she is a wonderful breeder and takes great care of her dogs. You have to remember everyone does things different! Don't want to hurt feelings. Just because she let them go at 6 weeks doesn't mean she is not responsible. My vet and her vet gave the clear on it! I understand where everyone is coming from. Hugs,
