| Animal Cops San Francisco I was wtching anumal cops San Francisco yesterday and there was a story of a lady walking her yorkie on a leash and a man walking his pitbull with no leash, well suddenly the pit launched at the yorkie grabbing it and not letting go until the baby was dead . Thr owner of the pit when approached by the cops a few days later said that his dog ran away. What a coincidence. The yorkie owner was crying a river for her poor baby. They went to court and there were many witnesses on the ladies side and the man crying appologized publicly to the lady but even with this she wont get her furbaby back and he should of had a leash on his odg period. Well just thought I'd share this heartbreaking story. |

| My husband pokes fun of me all the time when we walk the dogs because any dog I see - leashed, in their yard behind a fence - ANY KIND I pick Simon up and carry him. Even another small dog. That is horrific and something I am always cognicent of when Simon is out. Poor little baby. Jeni |

| My friend was telling me about a 7 week old Yorkie in her neighborhood dog park that was attacked and killed by a pitbull (leashed). The dogs were playing in a group and the pitbull went after the little baby. Got him by the neck. Hit an artery and by the time they got the baby to the vet he lost to much blood and died. Though it is horrible I don't think a seven week old baby should be playing in a dog park, nor should a pit bull be allowed in a dog park.

I agree with you on both points. Our local dog park has 2 different fenced in areas 1 for dogs under 20 lbs and one for over 20lbs. That is such a horrible story. I won't be taking our new puppy to the dog park until he is a least 4 or 5 months old. I would be way to scared. But by the time he is that age it will be winter.

| I am constantly scanning the area for big dogs every time we go for a walk. I don't care if people make fun of me or think I'm snotty, but I will always pick Otis up, even when a big truck goes by or a loud scary motorcycle. Can you imagine being their size and being that vulnerable to the world? |

| You know..this really sucks and is not fair. She was doing the "right" thing and being a "responsible dog owner". Now her baby is gone because of someone being an irresponsible dog owner. Not fair at all... No other dog can replace the one she had! About a month ago, I walked Stomper down my street. These people let their German Shepard and Lab run free in their front yard sometimes and other times have them leashed up. Well...that day when Stomper and I went by, both dogs came running towards us on the other side of the street. I tried to grab Stomper in my arms (as I did once before on the street when the dog came after me and the guy said sorry it wouldn't happen again), but I couldn't do it in time. Both dogs where jumping on me (I had scratchs all over me), jumping/biting on Stomper. I tried to keep pulling Stomper away with his leash which was basically strangling him. His collar came off his neck I was pulling so hard (I know...this sounds terrible). Finally, the guy across the street and his wife came running out and pulled their dogs away. Stomper was fine and was doing his best to fight back the whole time. Needless to say, I cried the whole way home. I was so upset and felt hopeless. I am lucky my Stomper boy was OK. I will NEVER walk on that part of my street again. I hope those people realize that too...I used to walk him DAILY that way! They should feel bad and terrible. Anyhow...this guy in your story above should never have a dog again. Hopefully he learned a serious lesson. At least in my story, the irresponsible owner probably will never let his dog loose again.
