| Too many toys???? I have been seeing on tv and reading in books about dogs having too many toys available to them. That this creates boredom with them. It has been suggested that you put them up and only give a couple a day and rotate them. Now, as I am sure your babies do, Wookie has TONS of toys. And yes, they are scattered all over the living room floor. He will go to his basket, pick one out and play with it awhile. I can't stand the thought of taking his basket of toys away from him, but I understand the concept of it. I see how it could make him more stimulated when he gets a 'new' toy each day. Is there anyone that has done this? How did it work out?

| Lucy has toys everywhere, and at bedtime, she gathers them all up and takes them to her upstairs basket (she's got another one downstairs). The following morning, they're all transported back down again! When I have a client in, I always have to check my consulting room, because Lucy has a habit of hiding toys behind cushions, under chairs, etc - I can usually find at least 3 or 4 squirreled away she's left for clients to find.

| I have lots of toys in their basket and they can go over and pick what they want. Lots of times it is the same toy but they also pick new ones on a regular basis. I also rotate the toys they have in their basket every couple of months. My dogs have never told me that they are bored!!! |

| Sooo, I guess everyone is like me, just toys everywhere!! lol I recently watched an episode of "Its me or the Dog" with a little pom that had a lot of the same behavior issues that Wookie does. The verdict was that they were a result of being too spoiled! (no way, right?) And I can see that. One of Victorias solutions was to ration out the toys and not have all of them available to the dog. You also must make them do something to get them, not just give them to them. Guess no one goes this route.....

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This is the same thing they said about children's toys, and putting toys away for a while does seem to spark a new interest. This seems to work when they are toddlers, any younger, and everything is always "new" to them, and much older, they get mad when they can't find a favorite toy. I keep some of Joey's toys in a closed basket, and occasionally open the basket for him to see the "new" things. He gets excited for a while to see the new things; but I think it has more to do with his scent being on them. He doesn't get excited for long enough for me to usually leave these out, and put his favorites in the closed basket. I keep his favorites a really large dog bed/comforter, and some in several open baskets, and he seems to enjoy dig through the baskets to find things. Mostly, he likes the toys where we interact with him. If we seem interested in a toy, he's interested.

| I think there's a difference between having a lot of toys and being "spoiled" There's a lot more that goes into making a spoiled dog than just toys My guys have a lot of toys Mainly because if they didn't have them THEY'D EAT THE FURNITURE

| Carlos has a ton of toys in his basket too! I pick them up every night and put the basket on the counter. In the morning he sits and waits for me to put the basket down. Every once and a while he will dig to the bottom and find a toy that he has forgotten about and then he is super excited to play with it.
