| Warning - Petco Return Policy I bought two clearance outfits for my babies on Jan 31. I didn't have the babies with me because I was running errands and eating out. They didn't fit so I took them back on Feb 2 (2 days later) with the receipt. They told me that at Petco clearance items are non-returnable. WHAT?? Are you kidding? I told him I was not told that when I went to check out. The Mgr told me that they have signs in the store stating "no returns on clearance items". I asked him to show me the signs because I didn't see them. He could not show me a sign because there wasn't one. The store Mgr told me that NO store would take back an item sold on clearance. I went home and called Petsmart. Guess what....YES they will take back any clearance item! They told me you should have your receipt but in some cases they will issue a refund on a clearance item w/o a receipt. I never did like Petco and I hardly ever walk in the store because it isn't a pleasant place to be. I won't be going back there. WARNING: Know that if you buy a clearance item at Petco it is YOURS to keep and they won't take it back. There. Now I feel better. LOL

| Great info!! I dont like Petco either as they are not friendly and very snobbish, like they are doing you a favor by being open.

| Grrrr. I just got some things for Ellie there and need to return one. I'm not sure if it was a real good sale or if it was on clearance but I want my money back.

| Maybe YOURS will take it back. I hope so. I went online to make a complaint and the online return policy doesn't say clearance items are non-returnable. At least I didnt see that. With their attitude I'm surprised they stay in business.

| I bought some of Petco's clearance items, they didn't fit and I was able to return them. However, at PetSmart, they had a very deceiving sign saying 50% off. I took a sweater up to the register and it rang up full price. I made a comment about it and the guy said it was on only selected items. I asked how I was to know which sweaters were on sale and his reply was that I'd know when I was checking out, just like now. So I thought that was a pretty crummy way to run a sale. I left without the sweater. Darn shame too, because it was cute. I think a lot just depends on where the stores are located. Some places have good customer service, some don't.

| I bought several items on clearance at Petco a few weeks ago. None of them fit but I waited about two weeks before returning them and I had no problems at all. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

| I'm glad to hear that not all the Petco's have this crappy return policy. I would be sure to ask at the register when you are buying clearance items, just in case. I just wanted to post a warning so you will know what happened to me. There was no reason whatsoever to refuse my return. I removed one item from the cardboard to try on and it was already detached when I got it. Everything was in perfect re-sell condition. I have also seen things at Petsmart with a sale sign that didn't ring up on sale at the register. You really have to watch them while they are ringing things up. I have also had Petsmart give me a really good deal on something that wasn't marked for like 50 cents.

| I haven't tried to return anything to Petco but have petsmart and love their return policy. we bought a bunch of stuff with our first puppy that we never used or he didn't like, I found out in his puppy class that they will take any return, no questions asked, even if its open. so the treats and food I bought, which was open and partly used, they took back for full store credit. WHen I did this I got back almost 70 worth of store credit.

| I bought some Christmas clearance at PetCo the other day. I don't have my baby yet, but I figure if anything doesn't fit come next Christmas I'll just take it in. I do find however, that around my way PetSmart is much cleaner and friendlier than PetCo. But I had the same problem at PetSmart with the clearance sweaters, and walked out without as well. |

| I just returned something at Petco that I bought last month and I didn't have the receipt but the manager looked up the receipt by my pals card and returned it (she printed out a copy of the receipt and returned it for the original amount I paid). You might ask them to look it up by your pals card. I think they are hurting for business and trying to pull scams. I took my Standard Poodle to get groomed 2 weeks ago and they told me I had to get the Works in addition to the grooming (which is an additional $19). The groomer told me that now that's a package and I have to get both the grooming $59.00 and the works $19.00. I tried to call Petco corporate but they said I had to talk to the manager so when I went back I talked to the store manager who called his manager and he said you don't have to get both of them (which I thought you didn't). He then said "but didn't you get an estimate paper when you dropped her off?" I said "yes, but the groomer told me I didn't have any other option". Well when I finally went to pick up Cassie the other lady in grooming told me that the managers are making them say that to customers to increase their sales. I said I could see doing this to a new customer but not to one that knows better and has been going there for years. Needless to say I will not be going back there for grooming....I say it's a scam and it's not right!!

| Were they christmas items? When I went to Petco in the middle of January I bought christmas clearance and was told as I was checking out that there were no returns on the christmas items.

| Be careful with the pet store floors. I'm reading about the petstores and thought I'd let you know what happened at my Petsmart. I took my dad's new puppy (6 wk lab) in with me to pick out some toys and treats and he picked up a virus from the floor. I didn't realize I shouldn't have taken him in until he was completely vaccinated. He's fine now. I definately didn't take my new Yorkie in after that. My vet said they get alot of complaints about dogs picking up viruses from petstores. I just never thought about it. |

I always take a blanket into the store with my pups and put them in the cart on their blanket. I do not let other dogs near them. Might sound overprotective, but I had them get very sick once at a Boutique photo shoot. They had been sniffing and playing with other pups. Two of them ended up in the emergency clinic..luckily they survived, but they were terribly sick. I also avoid dog parks. I know what is in my yard. Too many people take their pups out when they are sick...just like they send their children to school sick. They tell their children to go see the nurse when they get to school. Crazy stuff. | |
