| I need help filling out Registration!! Hello all, I finally got Cohen's AKC registration form and I need to send it in. I'm confused about which package to sign up for. Can any of you tell me what all is included in their pedigree (like if you sign up for the big packages that include many years of pedigree info, what info do get?) Is it just a family tree of names, or do you also get locations, genetic health information, sizes of family members, etc. The only reason I ask is because if I'm just going to receive the names of his grandma and grandpa I do not want to pay an extra $30 for it. Any help would be appreciated!! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I got the pedigree information from the breeder, so I didn't have to pay extra for AKC to do a search. I think the pedigree, is interesting, but unless you are a breeder, it's not that valuable. I think the AKC has different prices depending how many generations you ask for, I think Joey's goes back 4 generations, so it would be like the great great grandma. I don't know if they give any location or health information, I would think you would have to search that yourself, and what I received is just a family tree. When we signed up, we opted for the regular registration, and the lifetime, lost and found. We have a microchip, in Joey, and thought the having the number doubly listed with the microchip company and AKC would offer us more protection, but mainly I believe in supporting the AKC and their efforts to get rid of bad breeders, so that's part of the reason I choose that. Here's their fee schedule: https://www.akc.org/reg/fee_schedule.cfm

| Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. So if I ever wanted to breed Cohen, I should definitely have a family tree? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm not a breeder, but I think this is the way they search their and others' lines for selecting the best breeding pair. Not only for desired looks, but for health problems. A breeder could probably answer this better. You'd definitely would want the family tree if you decide to breed.
