| Congrats on the new baby. I can't help you with the markings or the potty training. Mine are a year and we still have potty issues. Why did they give her to you so young? |

You may already know that six weeks is much too young for her to be taken from her mother and littermates. She hasn't yet been socialized by her mother in the manner of how to relate to other dogs, and her littermates in play fighting and developing a social hierarchy. Additionally her mother's antibodies (from the milk) are just now wearing off and her immune system will have to take over. She will be very susceptible to any disease she is exposed to and will almost certainly suffer from stress related coccidiosis. There are lot's of ways to approach potty training. I crate train in the smallest crate I can find that allows the puppy to stand and turn around. Some use a play pen with room to play and a pee pad. The method that works best for you will have to be your personal choice. Which ever way you decide to train, consistency is the key to success.

| 6 weeks is pretty early to have a Yorkie. I got Missy when she was 7.5 weeks old and we had problems with hypoglycemia. You may want to read up on it just to be safe. I had to use Nutrical. What worked for us with potty training was setting up an ex-pen in the kitchen with a crate (door open) on one side, a pee pad on the other side, and food/water. I praised her each and every time she uses the pee pad (still do) and I would give her a tiny treat. Eventually once she really got the hang of it, I would start giving her more and more free reign of the house. I never punished her for going in the wrong spot. Just ignored it and cleaned it up, but I always praise he when she gets it right. She is consistantly using her pad at 18 weeks of age. Good Luck!
