| Balding or change in fur? I've noticed Maximus' top part of his head looks like it is balding, although, it may be the silver coming through and kind of thin like where I can see his scalp? I'm not really sure. Does this happen? I will be sure to ask the groomer Saturday when he goes.

| This happened to Lucy, too - and I think it's just the silvery colour which makes the hair look as if it's thinner ( I have the same problem when my own roots show through)! Sounds like it's perfectly normal.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, this happened to Joey around 5 months, and it's not a great look, the hair turned completely white, and then gradually it turned tan, but with black tips, and white roots, he looked like he was balding. I'm told that Yorkies who go through this have beautiful adult hair, and this was true for Joey

| Definately normal. Buddy's has been like this also, it is changing to tan but I think with the lighter coloring it just seems like you see a lot of scalp

| Gah, everyone thinks Mahina's going bald! It's all silvery/white on her head and people think somethings wrong with her. I then have to explain that they change colors. LOL I'm still waiting for her body to break color. That's if it does... the sire was very dark and the dam was really light. I'm hoping she'll be light!

| Ya'll just don't know how much better this makes me feel. Thank you so much for all your comments. I can hardly wait to take Maximus for his first grooming. Saturday, when I made his appointment, I wish I would have remembered that I wasn't babysitting this week. I might have gotten him in sooner. lol He will be 20 weeks Thursday and he definitely needs some sanitary grooming.

Good luck with your grooming, and many who have the courage to take them to a professional, suggest taking a picture of what you have in mind. I've read so many stories where they have verbally explained their thoughts, and the groomer says "yes, yes," but then the groomer does what she likes. Sometimes the first haircut can be a little traumatic, if they don't look anything like the dog you brought in.

| The top of Mojo's head turned almost all white too when he was little...it isn't white anymore, of course...but I wondered about it at first. Good luck with the groomer....will you stay while he is groomed? If you need help with home grooming, you can check out the grooming section HERE or just ask. Most of us to a lot of grooming and cleanings ourselves at home. - makes it more comfortable for the babies and us mommies too!

| My little Mellie looks like a skunk right now. She is silver on the roots of her head and has started to break down her back too with a lighter color. All normal. Just funny looking.

Lol, yes a little skunk, that's about right. We should do a thread with our favorite skunk/little old bald man pictures. I don't think I've seen a thread showing the awkward phase that some yorkies go through.
