| how do I make chloe better? Chloe is an older gal that I adopted five yeas ago. To anybody who oesnt know. I recently lost my 9 month old yorkie puppy to 2 golden retrievers. Now chloe is very sad. She hasnt eaten in 2 days (She excepted 2 marrow bones and thats it) And she is laying in her bed alot and will let out a deep sigh or a whine every now and then. She misses her happy little adopted baby. What can I do to make her feel happy? Will she get better? I dont want to loose my other dog to depression after just loosing sophie |

| She is grieving. Make her a special dinner of chicken and rice with veggies. then just show her lots of attention and love. Maybe in time get a new pup

| I agree. She is grieving in her little doggie way. Maybe try and take her out and do something she loves to do to get her mind off of it and make her a special dinner. Maybe buy her a new toy. In time things will get better. If you are ready, maybe get her a new playmate.

| I try to give her lotts of attention and love, but she is making it known that she is wanting to be alone. She is 17 years old, and i was so scared to get a new puppy when I got sophie, because i figured it may be hard on chloe, and chloe wouldnt like having a puppy at her age. BUt she lovved her so much. Is it true that dogs arent as excepting to knew dogs after loosing their doggy best friend? |

| It may take her a little longer, but she would eventually warm up.

I agree with post above. When I lost my older cat Jesper (he was 17 yrs old, RIP), my younger cat Suki was grieving and seemed depress for a few days. But overtime he got better and was back to his old self. Now Suki lives with my parents, b/c my husband is allergic to cats, and he's quite happy there.

| Okay.. I am going to think about it somemore. But i am going to call the spca and put my name in. If i am approved as a fit home. then I will start searching for an older, small breed dog and maybe i will adopt.. But i feel guilty. Like I am replacing her or something |

| Good. Don't feel guilty. Sophie wouldn't want you to feel guilty. She would want you to move on and find another baby to love and in fact she would LOVE the idea of you rescuing a homeless furbaby. Sophie will pick the perfect baby out for you, you'll see!

| I agree don't blame yourself. It will take some time for you and her to get over this. I'd give her extra attention, and love.

| Everyone is ready at different times. We lost our Maggy in July and I was ready before my husband was. I was not replacing Maggy with Toby, I think Toby is helping to restore the balance in our house. Two dogs can never be the same. |

| Dont feel guilty, and if you do decide to get an older dog, just think how happy that little dog will be. Being older, he/she might have missed out at getting a forever home. |
