| Question about ears.... Is is common for baby Yorkies' ears to NOT stand up? Do they 'pop' up later? My little girl's do not, but both parents have upright ears and I have read that it is breed standard. Anybody know about this or have experience in this area? Thanks! |

| mickey's ear's always popped up from the moment we met him however, mickey's half sister casey's ears do not pop up and she never had the tape treatment i know you can train the dog's ears with tape and cutting the hair around it short to pop it up. there are a lot of posts about that. do a search and good luck! |

| Sapphire's ears don't stand up. If you want, you can tape them to get them to stand up. I've also read that shaving the top 1/3 (I think) of the ear helps.

| I was told by a breeder that if after a year the ears don't remain erect that it was a sign of bad breeding. I also heard you can somehow tape them up there is a video on youtube on how to. Hopes this helps. P:s I think they look cute either way |

| Walker's ears needed a little extra help, too. There are actually diagrams on the web on what part of the ears you should shave and where and how to apply tape. I followed those instructions and Walker's ears were up within 24 hrs. I still had to trim the hair around his ears every once in a while since one ears kept flopping. Teething and hormone changes can be other reasons. Don't worry....

| How old is she? Do you keep her ears well trimmed. Sometimes the weight of the hair will pull them down. You can also try taping them up. Also, if she's teething it may be the reason they won't stand. I'd get in contact with your breeder, and see if she has any suggestions.

| My breeder told me not to rub the dog's ears. They popped up when she was a little older (maybe between 4 and 5 months?). |

| When my furbaby was a puppy, her ears were down, but as she got older, they did eventually pop up all on their own. I didn't have to use the tape technique or anything. I just let them be and they eventually went up on their own. For awhile, she looked kinda funny because one was popped up and the other was slightly bent at the top. |

| If she is real young I wouldn't really worry about them. Mazee's ears were up when we got her and then when we brought her home they were down for a few days then came back up. Their ears may also come down some while they are teething-so just trim the hair around them some and just see how they do-that's what I would do.
