YT 500 Club Member | Introducing... Megatron! Hi Everyone, I lurked (and learned) on YorkieTalk for over a year before I got my pup, but now that I finally have her, I think I should introduce myself and my amazing furbaby. My husband and I adopted Meg a week and a half ago, and it feels like we've had her all our lives. We are so crazy about her! She is 12 weeks old, and starting to get very mischievous. Meg became hypoglycemic right after we got her, so days 1-4 of dog ownership were very traumatic and stressful. She must not have been eating well enough before we got her; she shared her food bowl with two other pups, and I can't imagine how hard it was to know which dog was eating what. I won't go into all the details here, and those of you who helped me through the ordeal already know the story, but Meg ended up having a blood glucose level of 18. She was so close to death, and at first we didn't know if she could pull herself back. She was hospitalized for two nights with an IV inserted to her neck via catheter. The sight of her broke my heart. Her veins are so small that that the vet couldn't even insert a butterfly needle. Meg slowly regained strength and started eating on her own, and now - seven days later - she is eating well and has lots of energy to play. I tried to buy a harness for her at a local store, but the smallest size falls off her. Now I am having ChattiesMom make one! I'm so excited and can't wait to talk her for walks, although it's winter, so the walks will have to down the hallway to the elevator and back. Meg was 1.07 lbs at her vet check up last week, but I'm hoping that she's put some weight on now that she's started eating! I originally wanted a 5-8 lb dog, so I'm hoping she tips the scales at 4 lbs+ when she's full grown, but it doesn't matter. I love her no matter what size she is! And we think it's funny that she has such a "big tough dog" name: Megatron! (FYI, I didn't realize that Megatron is the villain in the Transformers storyline until I had already fallen in love with the name. I hope Meg chooses to use her powers for good, not evil!) I'm not sure how to post videos here, but I just put several on my blog, so you can check it out there if you're curious. And here is the link to my YT album so you can see pictures.
