Sad 5 1/2 week old yorkie pls HELP!

so i bought a yorkie pup 3 days ago. crackhead lady was selling it for 800 hundred. she told me the pup was 5 weeks n 3 days old; she said the mom stopped breast feeding them and is neglecting them so she feel its time to sell the pups. and me not knowing much about the breed i got it cuz it was sooo cute. after i got it i went online to do a lil research n found out its not suppose to be remove until 10 to 12 weeks. i tried calling back the breeder but shes ignoring my calls, i dont know what to do. the dog looks healthy, hes been drinking pup milk but he hasnt poop yet? dont know whats going on? tonite we decided to feed him sum wet food, hopefully he will poop. i called the vet and they told me he should be fine, just keep feeding him n keep him healthy, n come for a doctors visit at his 6 week. i know for a fact shes not going to give me a refund, she prbly used it on crack or watever. n if i give it back she is going to try to sell it to sumone else. i just hope my pup will be okay.
can i bring the breeder out to court? what should i do?

Hi and Welcome to YT.

I think you should put your message in the Breeders section.....so breeders can give you the best advice on feeding such a young pup.

Best Wishes,

I would turn her in. It is against the law to let a pup go that early. those poor babies.

You need to get some puppy nutri-cal in case its blood sugar gets low, keep it warm and get it some soft food. also you might have to take a warm wet cloth and softly rub its bottom to help it go poo and pee. like the mom does when she licks it. dont take the pup out side and or around other animals with it not having any shots. Ill keep your pup in my thoughts and prayers.

It sounds like he will need constant care for a bit.
If he hasn't pooped in three days and stimulation isn't working, he has to see a vet.

I'm not sure about the laws in your state, but in most there are restrictions on when pups can be sold.

If this woman is indeed a "crackhead" you need to kiss your money goodbye and focus all your attention on the pup. I agree with the above that you need to see the vet asap. They will help you with caring and feeding such a young pup. Please let us know how you make out.

WELCOME to YT.

I would get to the vet ASAP. This pup is very young, and extremely vulnerable - and will be for quite awhile. I would recommend you post in the breeder's section right away and ask for help on how to care for this puppy who should truly still be with its Mother. There is a puppy gruel recipe somewhere, which I think you'll need. You'll need to feed frequently in the day and may need to get up during the night for a while. You should buy Nutrical right away (Petsmart/Petco).

I would not be allowing any shots for quite awhile - the vet should know this as well. But if they try to push shots, refuse. Puppy is too fragile.

I really cannot express how fragile this puppy is at this age - so I'd really encourage you to gather info here - and to get to a vet asap. BEST OF LUCK.

This puppy will probably need round the clock care for awhile also. If your not able to give that I'd find someone reliable that can. Wylies Mom and the others are giving great advice. Are you familiar with the yorkie breed or small dogs at all? If not....read read read.

Oh, that poor baby. I'm not a breeder, but I did raise Zacchie from five days old, so I'm chiming in here.
Keep him warm is right. Even a heating lamp would be good. When Z went through a bout with elimination problems, my vet recommended very gently inserting a LUBRICATED thermometer rectally just past the tip of the thermemeter. It stimulates the colon.
I don't know if this is right, but I wouldn't think the puppy was finished nusring yet, and would bottle feed the formula for a while.
How much does he weigh?
I wouldn't try to contact her again, but definitely report her to the authorities. She has no business distributing those babies at this age!

I highly recommend you get a good quality dry puppy food and grind it in a blender until it is very fine and just leave out a small bowl of this for the puppy. The puppy will lick the food and it will make feeding easier. You can continue letting the puppy have the puppy formula also. Be sure to leave the pup confined to a smaller area where he can get to his food and water. If the pup has problems with constipation you can put a little karo syrup in his water. Do you know how much the puppy weighs?

This is excellent advice and the thermometer advise often works as well for the constipation. I have even used 1/2 of a baby suppository. A 5 week old pup doens't need to be bottle fed but you must be vigilant with keeping him fed puppy milk and maybe a gruel made with the milk and ground puppy food for a little while. If the former owner just took him away from the mother and he has never begun weaning you will need to work with him closely. I had to wean 3 week old pups when the mother stopped producing milk and they were able the drink from a jar lid although it was very messy.Good luck with your puppy

I would say keep the pup warm and in an confined area as well.
Nutri cal is great and also if you have dry food, add water or puppy milk to the food to soften the food so the pup can lick the food.
Good luck

Not in HI where the OP lives. Unfortunately not all states have minimum age release laws...Hawaii is one of them.

I am so sorry you have ended up in this frightening situation. I live on Maui and know that there are so few Yorkies available in Hawaii, we can find ourselves in less than optimum circumstances when getting one. My Tiki came home at 7.5 weeks (yes before I knew better), but fat and healthy and eating. Luckily I am home full time so I was able to be with her 24/7. You need to do this too. What is the weight of your pup? Is he one of the ones I saw advertised as Yorkie/silky (maybe mix), recently?

You should already have that 6 week vet visit scheduled, or are there. They will give you the best advice, and members here will also be helpful.

Watch that pup constantly for signs of hypoglycemia, and have nutrical available if needed, or karo syrup.

Your pup isn't getting natural immunity if would get from mother's milk. Be extra careful not to let pup around other pets, and don't put him on the ground outside until he is much older and has shots. Parvo is dangerous, and can put him down very quickly.

Post updates and you will continue to get lots of good advice and support from the wonderful, experienced members here.

Good luck, and welcome to Yorkie Talk.
