| Does your yorkie tease you? Marley has just turned 8 months, and he has become SO STUBBORN! When I tell him to "come here" he just stares at me, or will run away. This is something we have worked on for a while. I knows he knows what it means, because when I have treats he wastes no time and will come to me right away. He also loves to tease people. He will bring one of his toys up to me or another family member, make a whining sound as if he is saying "play with me!", however as soon as we bend down to pick up his toy he picks up his toy and backs away as if saying "Haha! Gotcha! To slow!". Does anyone else have problems with a stubborn/ teasing yorkie? And how can I work on his stubbornness? |

| Surprise Surprise..... You have a puppy Everything they do revolves around play You calling his name and wanting him to come ... just means Mom wants to play ... So I'll make her chase me You want him to come to you Then you need to make it in his best interest to come Already you know he comes when you have a treat so build on that ... and have him think you always have a treat when you call him set up some training time call him and give him a treat when he comes it's a good idea to keep some treats with you in a pocket for safe keeping COME ... is a command you always want him to obey

| Don't worry, Cassi does the same thing. She'll come over with her toy and as soon as we reach out to grab it she'll run away. They are such little stinkers aren't they?

| This sounds exactly like JoJo. He knows just how long our arms are! He will stand on his hind legs and act as if he wants you to pick him up too. When you bend over to pick him up, he runs. He is so rotten. We are going to have to work on obedience as soon as we get unwrapped from around his little toe. |

| Yes. Everything is a game to my Turkleton. Whether it's fetching a toy or me trying to pick him up. The ONLY time he doesn't make me chase him is right before nite-nite when he wants his cuddle time. |

| They all go thru this, and it's not disobedience, it's just play to them. It's getting them to understand without crushing this playful spirit that is the challenge. Gracie understood early on what I wanted when I said Come Here. If she did the whole backing away thing as soon as I tried to pick her up, I'd just turn my back on her until she came around to the front of me. I'd say Good Girl, Come Here, reach down for her if she'd back away again I'd turn my back on her. I wouldn't play the game. After only a time or two she'd figure it out, she doesn't like being ignored. The toy thing is more annoying to my DH then me. The way I see it is if she is bringing me a toy wanting me to play with her and the game she wants to play is Keep Away, then ok, we'll play Keep Away. She taught herself to fetch, she'd bring the toy and drop it at my feet, I'd throw it, she'd get it and bring it back. When she wants to play fetch, then we do. When she wants to play Keep Away, we do. Pick your battles, playing Keep Away with a toy is purely a game to them and they aren't doing it to be mean. They are little stinkers and they can have quite the mischievous look on their faces when the play, but there's no malice involved. The Come Here command is simply one you need to work on so that they'll understand it's not a game, but something they must obey. He'll get it, he's only 8 months old and is still testing his boundaries. Just be firm and fair, he'll figure it out.

| Been there and am going through it again. Mine are 6 and 8 mo old. Destructive and stubborn bundles of energy. They love making a fool out of mom in the yard. I get just close enough to touch them, and the chase is on. I've learned from previous experience that they do grow out of it. Takes patience and time.

| Haha, I'm glad i'm not the only one with a little teaser. I must admit that he doesn't have his little "puppy body" anymore, so I forget he is still a puppy at heart! Thank you for all of your suggestions! |
