| I know...(((hugs))) sweetie. It is tough to watch. There is something you can do, it's NOT support them. Don't buy from stores that sell puppymill pets, and SPREAD THE WORD. Education is the key!

| My dog came from a puppy mill. My daughter brought her home against my wishes knowing the risks, but she just had to have her. She spent her own money on the puppy and I figured we would be going through a heartbreaking lesson but we got very lucky in that she is perfectly healthy and she has earned her spot on my list as one of the best dogs we've ever had. She came with absolutely no health guarantee. Even though our experience has been ok, I will not get another puppy this way again. It is just too big a risk to take to fall in love with a little fur ball only to have health problems and possibly die as so many of them do. |

| Puppy mills are horrible and its shocking how many people have never even heard of puppy mills. I just started fostering for a rescue group and so far 3 of my 4 were from puppy mills.

| Yes ... they are awful places and should all be shut down But the only weapon we really have is out pocketbooks Do not buy from petshops ... unless you specifically know they do not deal with puppymills

| Yes, it is horrible and I can't watch the videos. Sadly, as long as Pet Shops are in business, it will continue.

| Both of my babies came from mills. Chip we got from a broker who came from an amish puppy mill. I researched his "breeder" and back in July I believe, he shot all but 10 of his dogs because some authority person told him to take all of his dogs to the vet. Chip was not in good shape when we brought him home and almost died about 4 times in his first year of life. Smokey came from a mill in southern VA, but we got him through rescue, so I don't know anyelse but what I was told. He has been in top health though except for anxiety. Both of my boys are almost 2. It's awful that people do that. I mean, if you want a business to make money, do something else, but don't use poor, innocent creatures. Puppy mill owners are HEARTLESS. They'll get theirs in the end.

| All my little ones came from puppymills busted . The most heartwarming thing in the world is to see after several months of cares , attention , love and patience , the little ones coming to you with joy and confidence . |

| That is so true. We've had Smokey almost 1.5 years and he is just now fully coming around although sometimes he does cower when we go to pet him. Someone abused him in the past, which is sad. We went through soooo much to get him to the point where he is today and I couldn't love him more :-)

| I'm so glad that Oprah Winfrey has taken up the cause of puppy mills. Have you seen any of her shows on that topic? She has a lot of influence. |

| i feel very guilty because i didnt do my research before i got my puppy. i was just so excited about getting one and never heard of puppy mills or anything. i got my little boy at puppy boutique in brooklyn which i have heard has very bad reviews. i feel really stupid bc i thought they breeded the puppies themselves at the place. he came with papers that state both his parents are registered with the AKC and have id numbers(if thats what its called). are the dogs registered with the AKC from puppy mills? the shop states that they use responsible breeders but i come to find out that he came from MO. so that means he was shipped a long distance i am assuming. i wish i had known.. well now all i can do is inform others and PRAY that he will stay healthy for a very long time! i watched the opera episode on youtube last night. very sad... |

If they aren't a puppy mill, they are definitely buying dogs from puppy mills, which makes them what is called a broker.

| I'm new to this site and I just recently saw the Oprah show about the puppy mills. But I'm not new to the concept. I've seen shows and read quite a bit about them. Its heartbreaking. There's definitely not enough out there about them. A lot of people are not even aware of this. I also find it sad and disturbing that some people who first find out about puppy mills are so eager to help they adopt a puppy they are not ready for and then the puppy ends up back at the shelter. Unfortunately its not illegal. Minimal care my [bleep]. Please contact the anti-cruelty or humane society if you are aware of any wrong doing.
