| Terrified of the vaccum Hi folks, Anybody have any ideas on how to get your baby adjusted to the sound of the vaccum cleaner? My Gracie (9 Months) is still terrified of it........I've resorted to having my husband walk her while I sweep.......any suggestions? |

| My puppy was afraid of the vacuum, too. I just kept on vacuuming until she got used to it. At first, I would vacuum with my husband or my sons home so they could comfort her. Then, I was able to do it while noone was home, and she would run downstairs - or wherever she could get away from the vacuum. Now, she is pretty much used to it and she even stays in the same room as the vacuum. Karen |

| Schatzie get's angry at the vaccum. She barks at it then goes and lies down until I am done. Maybe with your little one in the room, start the vaccum for a few seconds, turn it off and give Gracie a treat then turn on the vaccum again. Then repeat it maybe two more times or so. Maybe after a few days of this Gracie will realize that the vaccum isn't so bad after all and will get used to it. Just a thought and hope it works. Good luck,

| I heard that if there is a behaviour that your yorkie is exhibiting, like being scared of the vaccuum or barking when it's on, it's not a good idea to go up to your yorkie and pet him or her and say, awww, it's OK...this makes the dog think that you expect him or her to bark and act all crazy. What I usually do is put Archie in another room or on the couch and just continue vaccuuming. Let him go wild for a minute before he realizes that nothing bad is going to happen. I would give him a treat after vaccuuming if he doesn't exhibit the "bad" behaviour. |

| Yup, Yoda still is scared of it, but only when it's like really close to him now. He used to bark like heck at it, but now he's been accustomed to it's presence at least. I guess it takes time? |

| My maltese doesn't like it and just kind of goes to the other room to hide out until I'm done. But Mia isn't afraid of it. She follows me around and sometimes just gets in the way, I have to move her. For safety issues I would rather her not be so intrigued with it. I have also mowed the backyard with the dogs outside and again Bentley goes watches safely from the distance but Mia is trotting along after me. I end up having to put her inside becasue I don't want any flying debris hitting her.
