Thor's Human Donating Member | Coloring question Hi, guys. I still don't have pictures of my baby up, but I have another question. My guy has a classic yorkie head and body shape. His coat is silky and very fine. However, he does not have classic coloring. Basically, he is one shade lighter than what I would expect. His ears, muzzle, and paws are classically tan, but most of his head and legs are a very pale tan, almost white. His body is a mix of dark and light blue. Someone asked if he was a silky today, and I started to wonder, with his coloring, maybe he is partially? Is it possible for a yorkie to have such light coloring? I love him regardless of course, but I'm kind of going over in my head how much I overpaid, and even if he is a pure bred yorkie, I really overpaid. If he's part silky, I really, REALLY overpaid. He is 2 1/2 years old, so I wouldn't expect him to have any dark spots, but he's just so fair. Maybe he's a Nordic yorkie! I adopted him from a coworker, who I believe bought him from a pet store. He does not have papers. I know this might be a tough question without pictures, but what is your experience on coloring? Last edited by QuickSilver; 12-20-2008 at 08:26 PM. |

| Nordic Yorkie ...I like that. Chloe has a dark tanish very red coloring on her face and her sis does to. So I think even a pure bred Yorkie can really look like anything it wants I still have no clue what mine will end up like but it's fun to find out. I'm hoping Chloe lightens so my dh will stop calling her 'The red headed step child' He thinks he is sooo funny Anyway... he sounds adorable and we need some pictures , I love to see furbaby photos

| I think Twinkle is going to be light - her parents were very pale and already her colouring is coming through more silver and blonde than blue and tan... She's still a pure yorkie, just not the standard colours xxx

| The fur on Annie's face seems to lighten and darken from pale beige to golden tan.

| Is he kind of like this color? Here is a picture of Smokey. He really silver and he has one small black spot on one of his sides.

It's a bad quality picture, but it's the best one I've got on this computer. This was taken the day we brought him home.

| I always get asked if he is a silky too... he's also HUGE compared to a lot of yorkies (he weighs 14 lbs). It's certainly possible considering he was born in a puppy mill and I rescued him from a shelter... so who knows.
