| Puppymill raid in alabama I have had a really busy day (it's my daughters birthday) and just now had time to read the paper and this is what I see! There was a puppymill raid in the next county over from me.(about 15-20min away) Over 50 dogs were taken including some yorkies. I just called the shelter and left a message offering to help with the grooming. Maybe they will call me tommorow. This is just terrible! I guess they have had ALOT of calls from people wanting to adopt because there message says they won't be accepting adoption applications for them until next week. I just feel bad for these poor babies. The picture on the front page showed two little yorkies in a small little rabbit cage. I will let you guys know more if they call me to come groom. This a link to the paper. Daily Home Online

| Wow, it's just amazing how callous people can be just to make a few bucks. Thank God these babies were found and will soon find their way into a loving home. |

| That's so awful. I'm so glad they found them in time before anything really bad happened to them.

| Great of you to offer to help with the grooming. The shelter needs to give the dogs an exam and with your help grooming before putting them up for adoption. They may also be contacting rescue groups for foster homes. |

| I found the link. Hopefully it posts for me, it's right HERE I am so glad they busted this mill. And good for the "anonymous hunter" who reported it. It's so nice of you to offer to help with the grooming. I'm sure that will be a difficult job.

| The shelter where they are is really nice. They have vets that volunteer their time there. Our local shelter here is not like that. I am so glad they went to that shelter instead of ours! I actually just applied to take over as director of animal control in our county. I own my dog grooming shop, but I feel like I could make such a difference if I was in charge of our shelter and animal control!! and besides I could still work in my shop on weekends! The police chief is over the hiring for the job, and I have alot of police officers and detective who are my customers putting in a good word for me! I will interview after the first of the year...Ya'll say a prayer that it works out and get ready too see ALOT of posts in the rescue section if I do get the job!!!

| It is 30-ish miles from me but I have friends that live there. I'm attaching a link to the shelter website. It has some pictures of the poor babies and you can see several yorkies. It has rained so much here lately and the thought of those poor dogs in the elements makes me ill. Pet Finder: Animal Shelter of Pell City, Inc.

| I just wanted to let you know one we were able to adopt one of these little angels just before Christmas. Atlanta Pet Rescue took in about half of the 53 dogs seized. She is estimated to be about 2 years old and has had a complete turnaround in the time that we have had her. We were a little concerned that Rory would be jealous, but she has been just fabulous! I attached a picture of the girls on Christmas morning just before they checked their stockings to see what Santa Paws brought (at this point we'd only had her for two days). That is Lane (new pup) on the left, and Rory is on the right. Here is the update we sent the rescue: We just wanted to give you an update on how well Lane is adjusting to her new life. It's been two weeks since we were lucky enough to adopt her, and she has had a complete turnaround and really come out of her shell. Even though Lane is estimated to be two years old, she acts just like a puppy and we love it! She has learned to enjoy some of the finer things in canine life, such as kongs with peanut butter and cheerios, bully sticks, and all different kinds of bones. I think she is beginning to realize what to do with a plush toy as well! Her sister Rory has a lot of experience in that department and is showing her the ropes. They get along fabulously and love to run in circles around the whole place, stopping for an occasional break of tug with the rope toy. Rory has even introduced her to one of her favorite things to do while Mom and Dad are at work - doggie daycare! Today is her third day and she ran up to entrance smiling with her propeller tail going. When we picked them up today, Lane was deemed one of the handler's "favorites." I'm not sure she had much experience walking on leash when we got her, but she has picked it up quickly! She has enjoyed the few visits we have had to the dog park and did a fabulous job on the long walk we enjoy taking to Piedmont Park on the weekends. She loves the attention she gets when we visit the doggie boutiques as well. She loves to snuggle under the covers at night in her pajamas, so it really pains us to think of her outdoors braving whatever weather conditions there were at the time. Every morning she is probably the happiest dog we have ever seen - running around with her tail going and smiling at all of us. I only hope she felt her Christmas and New Year was as wonderful as we felt ours was with her in it. I think she knows she is here to stay!

| Thanks Linda! More pictures to come if I ever get my act together... Thanks! Everyone at doggie daycare is saying Lane is a blonder smaller (which isn't saying much considering Rory is a teapot) version of Rory!
