| Question about my 5 week old yorkie I have a 5 week old yorkie that we are having to raise on a bottle, now she is not having a bowl movement, and we have tried several things and seems nothing is working. Vet. gave us enamas for her and that worked, but the last three we gave her didn't work. Has anyone have any idea what I need to do to get her back on track? LittleDi |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Honestly at that point she still needs to be with her mamma. Is there any way you can take her back to spend more time with her mamma? I am not sure what to recommend other than maybe putting on a glove and putting some vaseline on the tip and just stimulating her bum....that seems to be what mamma does for her very young pups when getting them to go potty.

| The moms lick the puppies bottoms to stimulate and make them pee and poo. Take some toilet tissue and rub those parts to see if that helps. Also add a little Kayro to her formula.

i agree, but you may want to wet the tissue with warm water as well!

| 5 week old yorkie Her momma had a c-section and would not take the baby, we had to hold her down to let the baby nurse for the first time and still she tried to bite it, so we took her away after we let her get some of the first milk by holding her down. We tried the rubbing the bottom and that worked for the first week or two and now it doesn't, she did go to the bathroom yesterday, the vet told us to try her on pumpkin or baby rice cereal, and give her 1/4 tsp of mineral oil every 12 hrs. that is what I have been trying and she went yesterday, I just hope that keeps working. thanks for the comments. |
