| miss having a proper yorkie! When I was first introduced to yorkies, I was attracted to the long silky hair that drop all the way down on the floor, bold and rich colors, etc. the proper yorkie look, you know. After I got my first yorkie Rainer, I couldn't wait till her hair grew long like how it looked in the magazines. then reality hit, while she has straight silky hair with rich colors, her hair was very thin, after the hair reached a certain length, it looked really weird. so I cut her back to the puppy cut, she was so very cute in a short style, but I still had disappointment, I want a yorkie. then I got my second yorkie Dolly, she is everything I have dreamed of. silky thick hair, big beautiful eyes, short nose, long legs, steel blue on the back... she was already 8 months the time I got her, and she had very long hair for her age. I was so excited and I kept her in a show coat, well, until the next summer came, the weather got hot, and I got busy with work, Dolly wasn't enjoying her hair as much as before, either were I due to the fact that I couldn't keep up with the daily grooming job and she started to mat. so after all, I have to deal with reality again, I made the painful decision of cutting her down. she still looked like a doll after the cut, but its just not the same any more. I've been keep cutting her down every couple of month now. its def. easier to maintain. but I know that, deep down I still want a yorkie with full coat, its just sooooo beautiful. but for the same reason most other pet yorkie owners kept their babies in short cut, I don't think its feasible for me to maintain a full coat yorkie, daily brushing, coat wrapping, unwrapping and brushing again, top knot needs to be done daily, and so on. I don't know if I can deal with all that work. but I certainly miss having a yorkie with the proper look. and I really wanna know, yorkie lovers, whats the reason you love yorkies in general, not just your own? picture 1, Dolly now, am I really a dog? picture 2, Dolly at 10 months, the yorkie she once was. |

| Mine are both in puppy cuts. I prefer it! Anyway, I love the terrier spunk. I love how SMART Loki is - I can have a conversation with him using complete sentences. He is my baby and he is very loyal and has to sleep touching me. I love how he loves me. I love how Sammy makes me laugh and how stubborn and bratty she is sometimes. I love how she loves EVERYONE and has to greet us like we have been gone all day even if we just left the room for a minute. I love how Loki is the most efficient pee-er in the world (in and out in 30 seconds) and Sammy spends 10 minutes outside even in the snow. I love how Loki is cautious around new people and I love how Sammy can't wait to lick their faces! I love them. They are complete opposites and they are perfect for each other and for us. Most of all, I am allergic to dogs and I am grateful every single day that I can have my Yorkies. They are crazy, quirky and they have issues BUT I LOVE THEM! How's that?

| To tell the truth I had never seen a Yorkie in person until this past summer. I had only seen them in Magazines or on T.V. and thought I would never want one of them, way too much hair and work ( I never knew of a puppy cut Yorkie...I was never a dog/animal person , so that was new to me) Then I was at the beach this past summer and a lady had a little dog that came up to me , I asked her about it and she told me it was a Yorkie. Which I would have never guessed (Puppy cut) We talked and I fell in love with her dog ! So I guess the reason I love Yorkie's in general is because that one on the beach changed my mind about not only Yorkies , but about having more than one dog...which I swore I would never do .

| I guess I should add that my friend had a Yorkie and I was maybe 13? and I loved that dog sooooo much. I think that's when I fell in love. They think they are big dogs. They are small but they aren't "lap dogs" I mean, they are lazy for sure but they are independent. They fetch. They dig in the dirt. They are REAL dogs (if you let them be!) And they are small so they are easy to transport (mine have car seats and come along in the car all the time) and they are messy but at least their messes are small Weekly baths are no big deal. I could never have a big dog in my little house but these guys are perfectly happy as long as they have a couch to sleep on all day and stairs they can pretend is a nascar track

| I, too, fell in love with the yorkies long, gorgeous coat. The beautiful steel blue. The almost golden color. Their coat attracted me. Then, while looking for a dog, I read more about them. Kept reading. Kept reading. And, I decided the breed was perfect for me. I've always loved terriers. Always. Terriers are the perfect companions for me because we're both boundless balls of energy. I like a dog who will keep me on my toes. However, I also like a dog who will be "my shadow". So, while looking for a dog, I tried to find such a breed. American pit bull terriers are perfect for me. However, they are loyal to everyone. Not just their human. Jack russell terriers seemed a good idea... but, they're a little too terrier. I toyed with the norwich, the norfolk, the dandie dinmont... I toyed with about every terrier I could possibly think of. Then, I flipped to the toy breed section and found the Yorkshire terrier all over again. I read about them. They were perfect. They combined the terrier-nism that I love so much with the small, toy personality that I love so much. They were gorgeous. Perfect for me. Then, I met my first yorkshire terrier. She was the PERFECT match for me. She had the long, beautiful coat of a yorkie. I met my second one shortly after. He had the puppy cut. His owner showed yorkies in confirmation and obedience and when we met, she was on her way to an obedience show. It was summer- which was why he had the puppy cut and not his normal long coat. I remember when I met him- I was walking home. I headed up a hill. He approached me, tail wagging away. He had busted his leash some how and she was trying to catch him. I picked him up for her and that coat... it was so soft. She thanked me and put him back on his leash. I had told her I was considering the breed and she gave me a link to a rescue site. Said she bred but always sent people there first. That dog was gorgeous and full of personality. Since then, I've loved yorkshire terriers. |

| Personally, I would much rather keep Pippin in a puppy cut then them him grow long. No offence to those who like the long coat but I think it's okay for a show dog, but my dog isn't a show dog and on him it would look all wrong and it wouldn't fit his personality at all. I have always been a dog person, I love big dogs and have always wanted a big dog but after seeing an add in my local paper for Yorkie puppies I talked to my parents and when they agreed I emailed the breeder and told her that I wanted a boy, and we arranged all the payments and what not and when she sent me pictures of the one she picked out for me, I fell in love with him right way. He was standing with one paw in his water bowl. He did that the first day he was home with me and I thought it was adorable. I see more of his personality come out every day and he's a little over a year old. We have our arguements where I'll scold him for something and he'll 'yell' (aka bark) at me but I love him to pieces, he's my baby and I know he loves me despite how mad he makes me sometimes. He's a brat and I wouldn't change him for anything.

| I loved the 'look' of yorkies too, that long flowing silky coat and their intelligent faces, but knew that keeping a coat in the kind of condition I saw in the pics wouldn't be easy. After researching the breed I realised that a show coat wasn't the only option and this wasn't just a dog who looked pretty. Twinkle loves long, muddy walks and running around the park - and rarely looks 'pretty' she's a mental little terrier and I love her xxx xxx

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Your yorkie is absolutely a Dolly for sure, she really looks darling in that first picture. What a joy these precious babies are. We also have a Dollie I think they all look adorable no matter what cut they have and with their sweet personalities they really win our hearts. Have a nice day. Patti and Jack and Girls. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I prefer the long coat on my yorkies. It is a lot of work but the reason I wanted Yorkies was the long hair. Dolly is adorable either way but she looks beautiful in full coat.

| Dolly is absolutely beautiful!.....I understand completely about the extra work that goes into keeping a long coat. I wouldn't have it any other way though. There's just something about the long coat that gives a yorkie that "yorkie" look. I just love watching Jake run, his coat just bounces and swings. I just love it! When I took one of mine to the vet ( minor thing) as soon as the vet came in the room she said she rarely sees a yorkie in a long coat anymore most of what she sees is in the puppy cut. She said is sure was nice seeing one in full coat.

| I too love the long Yorkie coat. I'm hoping to keep Missy's that way. Puppy cuts are super cute too, don't get me wrong. I think Yorkies are just cute no matter what their cut. What attracts me to them besides the coat. The intelligent eyes and expression, their speed and agility, and the way they stand so proud and tall.
