Laser tag anyone? General Lee loves to play with the laser. He will sit at the dresser until I get the laser and then he will chase it and bark like crazy. If I turn it off, he will hunt for it for a bit. It is great exercise especially when I run him up and down the stairs. His little tongue will be hanging out of the side of his mouth and he won't quit. I have played with him for over 15 minutes non stop and he does not wear out. The problem is that he always has to stop and poop. Sometimes he just stops and pees also and not on his pad. Any ideas on how to control this? When he stops and pees, we stop playing, but I am not sure if that is the right thing to do either. The weather here is pretty harsh and we can not go out for more than a potty break. He will do this even when I have taken him out.

I also heard the story about dogs getting obsessed with it. I only play on occasion with her, no longer than 5 minutes a day, and I don't usually pull it out very often in the week. She does get a little obsessed with it even after the 5 minutes and will stare at the spot it once was when I last placed it and wait patiently. I can just imagine how she'd act after playing with it for 15-30 minutes. Although, I do agree the excercise she gets from it is great. I wonder what would be a "safe" amount of time to play using the laser pointer?

If we could run him more and walk him more we would, however, right now it is 16 degrees outside with the ground covered with a layer of ice, snow and ice. He will run for a bit, but his feet get cold and we have to come in. Right now he will only pee outside. During the summer we walk 2 or more miles a day with him and do not play with the laser.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I'm sure it depends on the dog. Some dogs are prone to OCD, just like people. I'm interested to know if anyone has a solution for the peeing. My guy does this too. We can go out for a potty break right before we play indoors, but if he gets too worked up, he'll pee. He's bold as brass about it too, he lifts his leg and everything. He seems to think he has a license to pee in this situation. |

General Lee knows that I hold it. He even will come up and jump at it. I have let him see it and smell it, then he is off running waiting for the light to show up so he can chase it. Sometimes he will pounce on the light.
