| 8 M.O. yorkie still not lifting his leg????.... Hello, thanks for taking time to read and hopefully you guys can tell me this is normal and it will happen soon, as its supposed to. I have a unaltered male yorkie who is 8 months old as of the 21st of last month. He still does the puppy squat to pee, but he has begun humping things and he has his K-9 teeth in already? I am not sure as he is my first yorkie and my first small dog, does it just take them a little longer? should I be worried? Is it any different for females? When do they become "ready"? I also have a 9 mo old chihuahua, and we don't want them to bred on her first cycle so i have been watching her everyday and she is not yet in heat either.... I am so confused. Does anyone know?

| My 20 month old yorkie still doesn't lift his leg. It is perfectly normal. Just curious, but are you saying you plan to breed a yorkie to a chihuahua? why, if I can ask?

| Gus is 14 months old, & doesn't lift his leg. He has Squirt (lifts his leg) as a role model. So, I guess they don't always learn by example.

| I am hoping my little guy doesn't lift his leg! So far (less than 24 hours!) I've seen him go both ways. I personally prefer squatting, less messy!

| Wow, thanks for the responses! I didn't realize how common it was! I am not saying I am looking forward to it but I know its a male trait... So I was curious if the lack of him doing it ment he was infertile or that he had so kind of male problems?

Now that he is lifting his leg are you having to re-house break him? Just curious do you think its a personality thing if they don't lift there leg? Maybe it is because they don't feel like the "alpha male"???? hmmm... not sure. anyways! Thanks.

| Me too!! Once my male started lifting his leg to pee...that's all he does is pee. On everything he passes. I even caught him peeing on my female yorkie while she was sqatting to pee!! This is why I have a never ending supply of belly bands for in the house.

| Biggie will be 2 years old on New Years Day and he JUST started to lift his leg like 2 weeks ago. I was so confused when he started doing in...I was dumbfounded wondering where the heck he got the idea to lift his leg. He must have seen someone at Daycare doing it... I suppose that I don't mind..he still squats most of the times and it is really funny when he tries to pee on a tree. |
