| I am so angry!!!! OK. So, I have spent an enormous amount of time trying to find the right breeder. The first one, I didnt have too much issue with, but after everyone on YT gave me their two cents, my fiance vetoed that breeder for fear that she was truly a puppymill. The next thing we did was ask many of you about certain breeders. Many of them had positives AND negatives about them, so I decided not to use any of them and to try and find my "perfect" breeder. Well, I found 2 and one of them dragged me along for a week telling me that she may have an interest in her puppy and since that person came first to her, she owes it to them to wait and see what they decide. I told her I totally understand and to please let me know. All of you raved and raved about this breeder. Well, after asking me questions and I answered them all and it taking forever for her to get back to me, she finally tells me yesterday, and I quote, "on hold with a deposit". So, I met a client yesterday and we were talking about getting a puppy. So, I tell her that there is a great breeder and she had some cute puppies, but not sure if any were available. She goes on this particular breeder's website and see that the same girl I was interested in is still available. Her husband contacts the breeder and the breeder tells him that she did not receive a deposit yet and that this puppy may still be available!!!!!!!!! My client calls me today to tell me she mailed the documents I gave her yesterday and tells me all this. I cannot imagine why someone would do that to me?????!!!??? I live in a wonderful home, I work from home, I had a yorkie growing up, I have done so much research and joined many forums, I have a huge heart ready to love one of these furbabies and am so upset that my home is fully stocked and ready for a puppy that shoudl have come. This client of mine is in the midst of moving, does not have a safe home (lots of construction will be going on for months inside the home), has 5 crazy kids (no manners), has never owned a dog and knows nothing about Yorkies!!! But, yet, somehow is being considered for this puppy over me! Should I say something to this breeder or just leave it as is?? I am not going with her, I decided on another breeder and am waiting to give her my deposit, but I am still sooo angry over this first breeder!:m ad: |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think if it was me I would want to know why she told you something different and if she would sell you a puppy and if not why. I hope you find your baby soon.

| How very frusterating for you. I'm sorry that you are going through such a tough time. Try to remember that everything happens for a reason. Good luck! I hope you get your puppy soon!

| i would be very upset too...yes it is great they are going in order of the people who expressed interest HOWEVER unless someone has paid a deposit for real, then they should not be telling you one thing and other people another... i do not blame you - i would be upset as well maybe this is a "sign" that this person is not the right breeder either? you will find your perfect puppy and it sounds like you would give her a wonderful forever home!!

| hmmm. I understand your frustration. It is ultimately up to the breeder to decide which homes will be best for their babies. Doesn't make sense though that you have the better living environment than the other person and she is selling to her. Although I have felt uneasy with people before and chose not to place a puppy with them. Could she have felt uneasy with you? |

YT 2000 Club Member | I can see why you would be upset and hurt. It's very frustrating looking for a reputable breeder to begin with, but then to find one & have that happen It would bother me finding out that she told me one thing and another person a whole different story! I hope that things work well with the new breeder you found! Good luck getting your Yorkie! Keep us updated on how your search is going and be sure to post pictures when you get your Yorkie!

| I'm not siding with the breeder - trying to make you feel better. Possibly the breeder was promised that a deposit was imminent, she assumed the "check" was in the mail, and then the buyer backed out.

| i am sorry that your experience had been so frustrating. i don't know about the breeder that you are talking about. but i can share with you my experience when i was looking for a puppy. i did a lot of research, and i finally found a couple of breeders that seemed like good breeders. (i didn't know about this forum at the time so i didn't ask for any advice here) after talking to the breeders and finding out the ones that have puppies ready to go to their forever homes. i make appointments to go see the dogs with my fiance. we finally decided on a puppy even though i wasn't too thrilled with the breeder when i met him. (and in fact, i don't think he was taking very good care of the puppies...after milu came home with me, i realized that she had a scar on the side of her rib, and she also had ear mites.) but i am glad that i have milu now, she is the best dog in the world. and the thing is, i wouldn't recommend my breeder to anyone, even though i get people asking me where i got her all the time. (i would tell them where i got her, but i would also say that i wouldn't recommend getting one there) so what i learned from my experience is that the most important thing is to find a healthy dog with a good temperament. of course you get a better chance of finding a dog like that with a good reputable breeder. but sometimes a backyard breeder can be lucky and have the best dog in the world. also the photos on the websites aren't always real. i feel like the the breeder that i got my puppy from just use old photographs and doesn't even update the pictures much...because when i called and told him i was interested in "candy" or whatever name it showed on the website. he didn't even know which dog i was talking about... i hope that you will be able to find you little angel soon! good luck, and most importantly, go meet the puppy if possible. that's the best way to guarantee that you will find the perfect puppy. as one of the breeder told me, go visit the family. play with they mom and dad and puppies. and if the place looks clean and dogs looked well taken for. then you are probably at a good place. but go with your gut feelings. if something seems off. leave. good luck!

I understand that could be an issue, and again, I am going with another breeder, but even if that is true, wouldnt you as a breeder, come back to me and say, oh, by the way? Also, why would she tell a complete stranger the truth and not me? She asked me to tell her about myself, but did not such thing for my clients. I do believe somethings are meant to be and we are sooo very happy to go with this new breeder and hopefully I will have my new puppy March/April. Thank you all for listening!! I so needed to vent a little. | |
