| My wonderful Vet. moved from CA. I've been extremely sad and hurt for a few days now and decided to let it all out here, maybe for some sympathy I guess, but to be around my friends. Last week I made an appointment for Zada's annual check-up for Dec. 3rd. Waiting in the exam room a young lady walked in and introduced herself as Dr. Sheri MacVeigh (moved here from Utah) and was very sweet. While I was on the verge of a panic but didn't want to hurt her feelings or make her think she wasn't competent enough, I meekly said, "I hope Dr. Bertram isn't under the weather", and she said "he moved to Utah" and I about had a cornea right on the spot with the tears welling up and all and trying so hard to find some kind of composure. She made a very quick glance at me while listening to Zada's heart then quickly looked back into my eyes and said, "oh I'm so sorry that you weren't told, are you ok?" That's when I lost it! Ever see a grown woman cry over losing a Doctor? Took me a few minutes to gain a bit of composer, walk back to the desk with red eyes and then it just came out of my mouth without permission.........you failed to tell me Dr. Bertram was NOT here when I called for the appointment. I could have gone 6 blocks to a Vet. instead of 23 miles if I'd known he was NOT here! I paid, told them I will miss them but since I have to find a new Vet. I'll try getting close to home. I cried all the way home and thu all the tears it looked like I was driving on a flooded road. I'm still in tears when I think about never seeing him again! I went down to the new Vet. who moved into the Village where I live and made an appointment for a consultation for Tuesday. I'll make a list of questions and see how she checks out for me. No one can possibly fill Dr. Bertram's shoes, but hopefully I can find one that is as nice and willing to work "with" me as he was. (Tears again!)

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Oh hun, I am so sorry. Usually when ANY kind of doctor moves, they mail a post card or a letter thanking you for your business, and telling you a little about the vet/dr. that will be in the office. I find it very unprofessional when they don't. We even got one when our State Farm agent retired, and then we got a "welcome kit" from the new agent with a magnet, etc. I know exactly how you feel, we were not close to our ins. agent, but to his receptionist who handles it all---and if she had retired too (because she is elderly) I think I would have bawled. I hope the new vet checks out for you! |

| I can relate! We got a letter over the summer that our family doctor was selling his practice. He delivered my daughter, and took care of all of us! We are very upset. The first time I went to the office after that, he was there. I walked in, heard his voice, and had to go into the bathroom so everybody wouldn't see me crying my eyes out. It's hard when you find just the right doctor who you really trust, and then you lose him. Good luck! Maybe the new one will be just as good in his own way...or even better??? |

| I'm going to find out why cards were not sent out to all his patients about his move. Your right, it isn't professional and I didn't even think about that!! I had been going to him for almost 8 years. I had many, many fosters and my own girls with operations and so on. Seems I was in that office at least once or twice a month for a few years. I probably spent enough money there to buy him his new practice.............and I don't even get a goodbye. Now my tears are gone, replaced with the feeling of betrayal. I won't be driving that 23 miles anymore just to go to a different Vet. when I have one move into the village I live in about 6 blocks from me. I will be talking with her Tuesday.

| Aw hopefully you will find a new vet though who's even better than the one before Just keep an open mind when you see a new vet... of course he's going to be different than the one you had before, but give him a chance... Or you could just move to Utah |

| ohhhhh damn ! your awesome vet moved away That really is upsetting. I remember you telling about him, and I almost thought of driving the distance from where i live, just to have him care for my Suzi. I am so sorry he moved away you had no idea either and now it is vet hunting time. I've actually begun liking Suzi's Vet now. Dr. Swazie is very good and their place is a certified animal hospital. He is easy to talk to and always returns my phone calls. Now that is a big plus !

| I am so sorry that happened to you.. He should of been grateful and compassioate enough to drop all of his clients a note. When m my vet had triple bi-pass surgury last year he did that,I thought it was very thoughtful. He now has a partner. I hope your local vet is a fit. | I totally understand how you feel! When we moved from KS to TX it was heartbreaking to leave our vet office! They had been through so much with us! And they were sad to see us go too! We still send them christmas card (the practice is owned by 2 brothers). My gyno moved away once too. It was really hard on me because I had been through a lot of womanly problems at a very young age, and I really liked the woman. When I went to the new gyno, she was very rough and unforgiving, mainly because she had 4 kids and had been in the business for a long time. I have never found a doctor yet that I liked as much as my first one. Come to think of it, I haven't found a vet that I liked as much as the ones in KS too! I completely comiserate with you on your experience. I am sorry for what you are going through, and hope you find another place that makes you happy.

| Oh No! Oh no Donna! I am so sorry to hear that he has moved. I was waiting for Jockey to get a bit older before I took him to your wonderful vet for a second opinion on his LP. I hope your new vet turns out to be a good fit for you and the girls.

| Oh, I'm so sorry your vet left like that! Perhaps it was a 'quick' decision on his part. If I knew where in Utah he was I'd give him a piece of my mind for hurting you

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I know exactly how you feel. When Krissy got sick in August I called our Vet and asked for Dr. Lamp. I had seen her about 5 months before with Mandy. I was told she was no longer there. She owns the office with three other vets and they have 5 others there. I wanted Dr. Lamp for Krissy!!! They gave a vet named Mandy Hamilton and I checked her out and called her to talk. I cried to her on the phone like a baby saying I NEEDED Dr. Lamp! She assured me she would take good care of Krissy and she did! I found out later Dr. Lamp retired due to cancer and even though she was 'cured' she wanted to play golf and relax more. I still miss her but Dr. Hamilton has proven to be almost as good. Dr. Hamilton calls every couple of weeks to check up on Krissy and see how she is doing. I know you'll find the perfect vet for the girls. You just want the best for them and I know you'll make sure they get it even if you have to move to get it!!!!!

| I can understand completely your shock and hurt feelings. I wonder if it was some assistant's fault that cards weren't mailed out. I am sure he had staff to do those things. He would probably feel bad if he know his patient's weren't notified properly. Hope that's makes you feel just alittle bit better. There are good vet's out there. Hopefully you will find the right one to replace the one you had so much confidence in. Good luck, |
