| treats for pottying I always give my yorkie (chloe) a treat when she potties outside (b/c we are still potty training).. well, last night she decided to potty in the house, and comes running up to me.. paws at me and licks her mouth like Im going to reward her for pottying in the house. Anyone else's ever done this? |

| No, mine get this guilty look or hide under the bed, the little stinkers. And, I can't tell which one did it because they stick together, they won't rat on each other. |

| No if Ramsey uses it in the house he will avoid you because he knows he has done something wrong... She probably doesnt know that it is wrong to use it in the house. Did you spray her with a squirt bottle after she did it. Or tell her no in a firm voice?? |

| No.. I didn't spray her.. is that something I should do to teach her not to do it in the house? I was a bad parent at first, cause it was cold outside when we first got her, and when I would take her outside to potty she would shiver and she was so little so I felt bad and let her go in the house. Now, I'm paying for it.. lol. She is learning a little bit of potty training. Usually she will go a little bit outside and I'll give her a treat, and then she'll come back in and poop the rest out in here.

| It's a way to punish them without hurting them. Have you tried putting puppy pads down in the house so when it is cold or raining she can use those instead of the carpet or floor.... I put some in the bathroom for Ramsey in case there is an emergency and I dont see he needs to go outside. |

| Yeah, we have trained with puppy pads, she pees on them, but doesn't poop on them.

| I think it's a good thing that Chloe came to you for a treat. When you didn't give it to her, maybe it clicked in her mind that doing her business in the house is a bad thing. Esme is pad trained and I gave her a treat EVERY time she pottied on her pad. Well, one time, she pottied off the pad and still came to me for a treat. I ignored her, cleaned it up and I think she got the message that she was not going to receive a reward unless she made it on the pad. Now, when she has an accident, she stays far away from me.

| lol I hope she gets the message. I have been keeping her in a crate, and then when she goes outside she can run around the house again. It seems to be working.. but makes me feel bad lol. I just dont want to have a puppy pad down for the rest of our lives.

| No, Stomper never does that. It sounds like your baby doesn't know what is right yet. Give your baby some more time!!! Before you know it...your baby will know where to go.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | My girls do this too...we give them a treat everytime they potty outside and sometimes when they go inside they look at us like where is my treat...but we don't give them one and they usually know that it means they did something wrong and will go by to pottying outside (until they forget again!!)...
