| Dahlia & Lily HELP!!! My two Yorkies are barkers and I mean barkers. Dahlia, the younger one is the instigator. She barks at everything....from cars going by or a little noise that she may hear. Then Lily starts in along with her. I have tried everything from the coins in the can to squirting water at them, which I really do not like doing. I don't want them to be afraid of me. Nothing has helped. And when the doorbell rings or my husband coming in the door they go absolutely bonkers with the barking. I even got a call from the manager of a hotel we were staying at because of their loud barking. I hope someone out there has some solution to this problem. I am at my wits end. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know. I love them dearly and I want them to be able to stop this constant barking. Mom to Dahlia and Lily |

| I watch the pet channel, Animal Planet, a lot and Victoria Stilwel of "Its Me or the Dog" uses a clicker and treats. The doorbell takes patience and two of you practicing with them. First you teach them simple tricks by using the clicker. Once they learn that, you have someone ring the doorbell and if they start to bark, you make a sound with the clicker to stop and use a hand signal and than reward them when they keep quiet. It takes repetition over and over to learn the right behavior. See if you can google the Animal Planet trainers and her name and you'll be surprised. I've tried several of her techniques and have had success with different things that mine have done. Good luck.

| Dahlia & Lily...The Barkers Thanks so much for your advice. I will try them. I think I need you to come here and train them. You have 5!!!!! How do you do it? I mean, besides loving these cuties. I love mine to death and I think sometimes I am to soft on them. That's probably a big part of the problem. Thanks, again. I really appreciate the advise. |
