| I think I got taken . . . This isn't about a yorkie, but ya'll are the experts, so here is my question... My daughter's boxer got into her roommates albuteral (sp), Asthma inhaler medicine, yesterday. The dog's heart rate was about twice what it should have been - so we called the vet. Met the vet at her clinic $250.00 Vet had me call animal poison control - poison control charged me $35.00 Vet monitored the dog's heart rate said dog wasn't having a heart attack. $100.00 She gave the dog a shot for her upset stomach. $50.00 Vet tech tried to hold dog - $30.00 Vet tech couldn't hold dog, so daughter and I held dog. ( I'm surprised she didn't charge for this.) Vet didn't have shot of Beta Blocker to slow heart rate, so she wrote prescription for Beta Blocker that I had to get at Wal Mart. (Dog's heart rate still up while we waited in line at pharmacy.) Don't get me wrong, I'd do it again. The dog, Annie, is part of our family. I wonder if I had called animal poison control from home instead of the vet's office what their advice would have been. Also, the vet knew we had insurance - I think she was milking it. What do ya'll think? |

| Seeing that it was on a Sunday....of course you were taken. They charge even more for the weekends. It sucks but unfortunately in these kind of situations, your are limited on choices. Poison control probably would have told you to get your dog to the vet. Sorry your out the money but I'm glad to hear Annie is okay.

| She shouldn't be charging for holding the dogs and she should, imo, have normal medicines. I'd find another vet...

| I think you got taken too. $250 to start is a lot of money. Ellie's old vet office has a vet there 24/7 and emergencies are only $80. $50 for a nausea shot is ridiculous. Restraining the dog should've been included in the original price. I would wonder why the vet needed to call poison control at all. Shouldn't she have known what to do? I don't mind paying vets quite a bit but that is just too much.

| ugh, that seems awfully pricey thank goodness your baby is okay! i had to take miss buffey to the emergency vet on easter morning because she was vomiting a little bit (but it had been going on for almost 24 hours) ... it was after her spay and apparently she had a reaction to the pain med....that visit cost me $480 lol ... but the little stinker is worth it

When Ellie reacted to a vaccine, all we were charged was the price of hte meds to bring her out of it. I was also uneasy about her incision after her spay (twice) and the vet looked at it for free (twice). No worrying here. It was post-op care, so they didn't charge...

| I know exactly what you are saying. I had my dog's teeth cleaned and they charged me $225.00 and they want to do it YEARLY! Ok, I am all for caring for my pets, but they charged me $12.00 just to walk by and check my dog while she was waking up from anesthesia. That is a bit excessive in my opinion. I honestly don't believe there would be so many pets in shelters if the price of healt care for them wasn't so outrageous. People say you shouldn't have them if you cannot afford them, but does that mean at any cost the vet wants to charge for their services? |

| I agree it seems a bit much, but it was a Sunday and Lord knows that Vet would have rather been watching football I'm very glad your baby was alright and I would start looking for a second option. |
